The first of our members’ 2014 X5 deliveries will take place imminently, with some vehicles already waiting at the BMW VPC (vehicle preparation center). For those anxious owners-to-be or just those interested in the new X5, you can learn more about some of the car’s features in these instructional videos.
They includes features on the intelligent safety button, third row seating, new key fob, child safety latch, heated steering wheel, object recognition detection, park distance control, keyhold removal cap, panoramic moonroof, rear comfort seats, updated sun visors, HVAC buttons and more.
The list of cars and trucks up for the 2014 Car of the Year Award has been parsed down to a short list of 12 cars and 12 trucks. The initial candidates list contained 30 cars overall, of which the BMW i3 was also nominated. It did not make this short list.

With the F15 X5 ready to make their debuts at dealerships across the globe, the M version resumes testing at the Nurburgring.
Testing on the F15 X5 M began last year [first sighting], but current mules have now dropped much camouflage. What’s revealed are the expected signature M components – huge front air intakes, aggressive sideskirts and rear diffuser, blue M brakes, and cross drilled rotors (the first for any X5 model). We also get a better look at the quad exhaust pipes which, unlike the current X5 M, feature a new angled design (like we’ve seen on the F82 M4).

Are there plans to add paddle shifters to xLine?
Currently, we’re only planning to use the Sport Auto Transmission (with paddle shifters) specifically for the M Sport package.

The new BMW X5: a fresh dimension in driving pleasure and efficiency.
Hot on the heels of its market launch, the addition of another three engines and four new model variants to the new BMW X5 line-up is set to extend the Sports Activity Vehicle’s efficiency lead over its rivals. The third-generation X5 will be available for the first time from December 2013 with a BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder diesel engine and rear-wheel drive. BMW has debuted the BMW X5 eDrive Plug-in Hybrid Concept at the 2013 Frankfurt IAA show.
Although the X5 hybrid is being presented in concept form, prototypes have already been spied in testing, so expect a production model to be made.
Here’s the skinny on the X5 eDrive Concept:
• Four cylinder turbocharged engine (no horsepower figure provided)
• Paired with electric motor (provides 95 horsepowers)
• Up to 70 MPH (120km/h) on electric power alone
• Maximum range of 19 miles (30km) on electric power alone
• 0-60 MPH in 7.0 seconds
• Average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle of 3.8 litres per 100 kilometres (74.3 mpg imp).
