In this video, race car driver Scott Pruett and BMW Product & Technology Communications Manager Matt Russell explain the BMW M Electronic Damper Control (EDC) system and how the Comfort, Sport and Sport+ suspension settings make a difference in the F10 M5 and F12/F13 M6.
Although the M5 and M6 use an M tuned version of the BMW EDC, here is a general summary of EDC technology from BMW:
Electronic Damper Control (EDC) automatically or manually adjusts each damper to suit the driving conditions meaning you enjoy outstanding comfort along with the best in BMW on-road safety. EDC reduces variations in wheel load, ensures tyres have excellent traction and counteracts bodyshell movement regardless of the weight your automobile may be carrying or the state of the road’s … CONTINUED
We’ve captured the next generation X5 M prototype on video for the first time and despite all its camouflage and cladding, still impresses with its furious sounds on the Nurbrugring test track. Have a look and listen inside.
Here is a report from the 2012 BMW M6 M Power Experience at the Yas Marina Formula 1 race circuit in Abu Dhabi, courtesy of BIMMERPOST member willaw.
This year’s M Power Experience event took place in Abu Dhabi, where the program was principally held at the Yas Marina Formula 1 race track. Last year’s M Power Experience in Spain focused on the F10 M5, and this year’s Abu Dhabi event will featured the new M6 coupe and M6 convertible. There were also excursions into the desert to test BMW M SAV vehicles.
Check out the report, photos, and videos inside.
The 555hp X5 M is fast, but not faster than the M3 around a track. That is unless it puts it capabilities to creative uses. Watch one way the X5 M with its AWD w/ torque vectoring rear differential can beat the M3 around turns on a track

This must have felt like Christmas for the folks at Autobild. Autobild knows what it takes to have a great story and has done a special edition on BMW M models, called “Fascination M.” In this special comparo, Autobild gives an overview of all current BMW M models as well as interesting insights into M GmbH. Most interestingly, Autobild pitted all (yes, all) currently available M models against each other on a German race track named Sachsenring.
The outcome? As you’d expect, the M3 CRT (it’s sold out but more info here) is the fastest M car Autobild has ever tested on Sachsenring as it clocked a 1:38.87 minute laptime (the M3 GTS isn’t available no more). An amazing second place goes to the brand-new F10 M5 … CONTINUED
The BMW X5 M was not built to be a drag racer (nor is any BMW for that matter), but that doesn’t mean that it can’t be an absolute brute on the quarter mile track, despite its hefty 5,368 pounds curb weight. Given its torque crazy bi-turbo motor, that’s no surprise.
The bi-turbo engine also reacts very well to software tunes and this video shows just how much tuning potential the motor has. RENNtech was able to run in the 11’s while testing out their BMW X5M project. Their goal was to have the fastest “tune only” BMW X5M and to be the first “tune only” X5M to run in the 11s with stock exhaust, stock (heavy) run-flat tires and stock airboxes. Well, their … CONTINUED
The BMW M Power Tour swept through Colombia in July, as part of the M Power Tour for Latin America. The event featured 3 days of M nirvana, with track time available in a total of nine M cars - as drivers or passengers in the thrill rides provided by BMW’s driving instructors.
The nine M cars featured BMW M’s latest and greatest - the BMW 1M coupe, the M3, the X5 M, and the X6 M.
Check out incredible looking experience in the video inside. Thanks to our good friend, Bimmerpost member, and veteran BMW driving instructor, Donnie Isley, for the video. Donnie headed up the M Power Tour in Latin America and if you’re familiar with him, you’ll see him make several cameos throughout the … CONTINUED
