Available for sale in the Summer of 2011 is a brand new package from BMW for the Z4, furthering its individual cred. The package first and formost comes with the stunning Mineral White metallic exterior color that M3 owners have been raving about for some time now, and will maintain its exclusivity by only being available on the Z4 as part of this package. Alternatively, people purchasing this package can also choose any other normally available exterior color for the Z4.

On the inside, the leather stiched seats come in a new color, Cohiba Brown with contrasting Lotus White seams. The rest of the interior it fit with black leather featuring seams in Umbra, Fineline Anthracite wood and sports seats as standard.

Among AC Schnitzer’s debuts at the Geneva auto show next week will be the AC Schnitzer Z4 99d (a 320d Z4).

The 99d packs 140 kW / 190 hp and 420 Nm of torque under its hood, dashing from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 6.9 seconds and up to a top speed of 235 km/h. Its weight has been reduced by 230kg over the factory Z4. What’s most impressive however, is the efficiency of this powerplant, with fuel consumption of just 3.8 L diesel per 100 km/h in the combined cycle and just 99.18 g/km CO2 emissions level.

Japanese tuner house 3DDesign has officially released its E89 Z4 M-sport product line. The aero kit package includes CF Addon Front Spoiler, CF Side Skirts, and CF Quad Rear Diffuser.

On the heels of the big BMW turbo 4-cylinder news yesterday, SCOTT26 has provided some dates for the switchover of certain BMW models from the current inline 6-cylinder to the new twinpower turbo I4 motor, as well as the end of production of the current 3-series, M3 and 1-series.

BMW ALMS star driver Tommy Milner piloted the Need For Speed Schubert Motorsport Z4 GT3 to a dominant 4-lap victory at the 24-hour Dubai race. Milner, who piloted the No. 76 BMW Z4 GT3 with BMW factory driver Augusto Farfus and team regulars Claudia Hurtgen and Edward Sandstrom, drove to a four-lap win in what was a trouble-free race for the quartet.

“The 24-hour race in Dubai is the first tough test of the year for all the teams, and we mastered this challenge in style,” Milner said. “This was my first race at this circuit. Winning this kind of marathon at the first attempt is something I will certainly never forget. We had absolutely no problems and the team spirit was great. … CONTINUED

Mercedes pulling the wraps off their new SLK (R172) is reason enough for another photo comparison. This one is particularly interesting as BMW’s move to build the current Z4 (E89) with a folding steel roof makes it all the more of a natural rival to the SLK. Mercedes pretty much started the segment of hardtop roadsters by launching the first generation SLK in 1996.

The new SLK appears to incorporate design cues from the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG such as the muscular front fascia. Mercedes also advanced their 3.5L V6 engine which now develops 302hp in the SLK 350 and thus is on par with the Z4 35i (300hp).
