Go into the iDrive menu, highlight "ConnectDrive" with the red ribbon, then hit the physical "Options" button on the iDrive controller.
This will then take you into the menu of "Update BMW Assist." Select that, give it about 5 minutes to update, then the system will begin showing signs of operation.
