My friends and I had a chance to drive the M5 competition and the M5CS back to back today.
I cannot begin to describe how significantly improved chassis and steering is on the M5CS.
The M5C LCI felt much more challenging in the following areas:
Rebound on road crest, steering (rubber band) elasticity, felt much more weight all around me (not limited to the from end like the F10 does), steering feedback, and weight transfer (from left to right) it didn't give me confidence that I was in control, felt like I was fighting it.
In the M5CS I can feel what the back end is doing, like I can tell where I am placing the rear half of the car on the road.
The M5 Competition is a great all around car, daily and sheer brutal power; but to actually appreciate the difference, you really have to drive them back to back.
Great job bmw.. just as I was losing faith in the brand, this car arrived just in time.
