Is there meant to be a gap here (rear bumper)

There’s a small 5mm ish gap between the boot ledge and the rear bumper, is that meant to be there or I did I fit it back somehow incorrectly...

No there isn't. At least based on my F36, which however looks very differently there.

But I recall seeing this somewhere else in this forum some time ago!

Yes, the gap is normal. It should be around the whole rear bumper all the way to the tail lights. That seal is for the trunk to the trunk lid, not the bumper.
