LCI vs Pre-LCI headlights

Hey am I the only one who loves all the LCI updates with the exception of the headlights? I like the LED concept but I'm feeling more attracted to the pre-LCI design.

I was on the road yesterday and I noticed the daytime running lights on the LCI headlight was a bright led bulb somewhere in the middle of the headlight. It looks awfully weird I found.

Maybe it's just me.

Yup, I like the full circle drl rather than the half circle. I like the hexagon 4 series and m car lights lci tho. I have a lci so even I prefer pre lci

Yeah the F80 headlight with the hex is the exception, I absolutely love it but there's something about the F30 that's blah. When the headlights are fully on you loose the prominence on the signature angel eyes. I do like the led strip element on the F30 LCI headlight but when the lights are all on (at night) the combination of all the lights I'm not loving. It looks flooded.

I actually prefer the pre-lci all around. The headlights and the taillights. I assumed I was one of the few with this preference.

Thanks and what is it that I keep seeing on the road...I see a super bright led bulb on, and that's about all. When I've seen it I think the LED lives between the two rings but I may be wrong.

WAIT! Is it maybe the halogen model I'm seeing?

Probably, or the full headlights as someone posted above... and I agree they don't look that great.

that's the full headlight on. you can code the LED halo to be brighter. During daytime it's at 100% but at night it dims to 33% if i recall correctly.

The older xenon headlights are great because they are more in line with the classic BMW look - they have a lot of character. The LED headlights look nice as well when they are running during the day...but they weren't a deal breaker for me because I think they look pretty terrible and generic at night. Its just a sea of white light, no character. Same with Merc's recent line up of LED headlights...they look generic and like crap.

Agreed. I don't like the Big Dipper look. It's not so bad when the headlights are on, but I think it looks odd when they are off. I *think* if you don't get the Lighting Package on the 18s, you get the old style Coronas, so there's that....

All this "I like pre-LCI" stops once you actually get a chance to drive the LCI with adaptive LEDs at night.

I wouldn't say that several of our point of views are on the aesthetic design of the light itself. Not necessarily talking about function.

Don't get me wrong if I had them I'm sure I'd convince myself to like them.

I've personally spent a ton adding in LCI updates to my 2013, the headlights I don't see myself doing.

Funny I just noticed yesterday seeing on coming at me in opposite direction how bright and distracting they were....the little straight line is overwhelming a bit...I do like the subtleties of the pre lci versions better.

Best part of the LCI is the turn signals. I love my eye brow LED signals

Generally projectors are better than the current reflectors. BMW are making more profit now with reflectors.

Bingo! It's because the LEDs aren't in projector form. Like the old days when some Xenons were in reflector form rather than projectors.

Adaptive LEDs aren't new to the LCI. They were available pre-LCI--with better looking Corona DRLs.

I didn't need to convince myself. I had three cars with Xenons before the current one (the last two adaptive), and the advantage of the LEDs became obvious as soon as the headlights came on for the first time after I drove the car out of the Welt.

This conversation is about F30, so no.

I prefer the headlights on my car (Pre LCI) and the tails on the LCI cars.

Just so it's clear from my perspective I like the eyebrows on both LCI and pre LCI, where I'm not sold is on the LCI when the headlights are completely on. I feel the headlights wash out the angel eyes whereas on the pre-LCI you still had delineation between the projector and angel eyes.

The halogen model altogether looks bad, but it was bad on the pre-LCI to begin with.

I got the Adaptive LCI LED headlights which I think look best on an F30; the regular LCI LED headlights do lose their style/shape and a lot of LCI F30s have it (which is what you're seeing and linked above).

I find the angel eyes on pre-LCI headlights too small, but that's just me.

My main issue with the F30 LCI coronas is that they aren't connected to the part going into the grill like the 4-Series LCI are. The F30 looks odd with a break in the strip and the 4-Series looks like the original concept
