Range no longer showing
So I've was fiddling about with the display under the speedometer and unchecked 'range' which shows how much miles you have left before you need to fill up again.
Well, I ticked it again, and now it no longer shows this range. All it shows is the MPG. Can anyone let me know how I can get this display back? Cheers |

Did you mean you unchecked it in drive settings?
And re ticking it doesn't brunt it back? Using the same key?

I would think that it needs to be driven to now recalculate how much fuel you have left and how you are driving (average mpg) before it can calculate range remaining.
What you have done by un-checking the box is effectively wiped its historic data which it will keep need to build again to calculate the remaining range. Take it for a drive and it should come back. .

The car will know how much fuel it has left from the fuel level sensor but will have no data on how the car has been driven over the last X number of miles. Once it has this second piece of data - it will be able to make a calculation. If you doubt it - what's your theory that provides the doubt? .

Rukka, I think you've hit the nail there.
Your theory might be right, so I'll check and let you guys know. The range is a nice little function to have so disappointed when it disappeared and didn't reappear |

And even in situations where it has to go through its "learning" process again, such as a flat battery, the range display doesn't disappear whilst it's doing it. As for what's happened with the OP, I've no idea, but I would guess they've selecting something by accident to remove it from the display. |

The range can't 'disappear', the display in the instrument display may well do, if checked and unchecked. The test is to bring up the OBC on the iDrive screen. Range will be running there all the time, unless it has developed a fault. |

1) Switch on car 2) Disable 'range' display 3) Check range not displayed using BC controller 4) Switch off car 5) Walk away and come back 6) Switch on car 7) Enable range 8) Check range displayed using BC controller OK, the only thing I didn't do is drive the car in between. If I get even more impatient waiting for the OP to reply, I will do that too. |
