F30 N55. Bad smell after DP was installed
Hey Guys,
Few days ago I have installed DP. So my 335i is now without catalyst. Today was good weatherand I was driving with opened windows. I could smell bad smell from my exhaust. No smoke, no issues, just bad smell. I can’t smell this in the cabin when windows are closed. Only outside the car or with opened Windows. Just wondering if it’s normal? |

Well a catless DP does not a catalytic converter(s) to absorb the spent and gaseous exhaust coming out of your turbo. Usually you would smell it at a stop light with windows open though, usually.....You may want to have connection where down pipe fits onto turbo checked to make sure there is no leaks

What do you mean by "bad smell"? It's going to smell like an "old beater" or a "lawn mower" without cats installed. That is just the way it is.
I have high flow catted DP, and there is a bit of smell at a stop light if the wind comes from behind me. Catless would be substantially more. |
