GSR Autosport | First M4 ECU Tune | Results +50whp +50wtq mid range on 91 Octane!!
GSR Autosport in conjunction with our Technicial Partners Jailbreak Tuning are proud to offer the very first ECU flash for the 2015 BMW M4. Results yielded +50whp +50wtq mid range on 91 Octane!!
We are in the final stages of Vehicle Tune Testing and Validation with the GSR M4 at Buttonwillow Racepark in California, completing another in a series of extreme climate test cycles. Now for the tune results! Here is the graph showing stock power vs. power with our ECU tune. The runs were done on an extremely hot day, mid 90’s which isn’t ideal for power but was necessary as a part of our stress testing. If the car makes power in this kind of heat things can only get better with cooler weather. The car has run this tune on the track as well and has performed beautifully. As you can see from the graph, huge torque gains down low help the S55 engine kick you in the back of your seat right away, 2800RPM sees gains of 60tq and 30hp at the tires, getting rid of a lot of the sluggishness commonly referred to as turbo lag. Power delivery is smoother across the board and peak delta is in the mid-range where you need it with gains of almost 50hp and 50tq at the tires at 5000RPM. The car now pulls hard right when you punch it all the way to redline with a very linear power delivery and a much more aggressive engine note. More information to come from GSR Autosport and Jailbreak Tuning… Note: This is not a piggy back system (commonly offered in the mark place) it is an ECU flash, actually reprogramming the car’s computer. As such, the car is not fighting itself to make the power and the ECU’s adaptations will only enhance the power gained opposed to degrading over time. Awesome! Two questions
- what is the mechanism for the flash? An obd2 based cable / handheld device or bench flash? - do you have any data logs? Iat, timing, egt, boost etc? Thanks and congrats if this is the real deal |

This is fantastic and thanks for sharing! I have a couple questions as well...
How much boost is the car running in the above graphs? I understand you're still conducting testing but can you discuss (in some capacity) the tuning tables you've been able to gain access to? In other words, do you have full control of the DME? |

Nice news. So a few questions:
What psi do you use in this stage? Does it cause any more heating of the oil or something on the racetrack? How this flash will work with the warranty? Are you going to make the next step flash+dps? Tnx. |

haha true. probably because most people are like me and don't know who GSR is
I want it to be true, it would be a great step forward for the platform. Personally, I would never tune this car with a piggyback (personal preference for many reasons) but may consider a conservative flash tune assuming the logs look good. So to me, its interesting. Cant wait to see what the future brings for this platform. The great news is the car is a BEAST in stock form, so these tuners have their work cut out Looking forward to GSR's response to the questions in this thread. |

Dyno charts look like partial throttle vs. full throttle. I'm having doubts that you have a real tune, but I'm listening.
Do you also have a real tune for the F10 M5? :

Or that the guys dropped the post and then went quiet. I'm no conspiracy theorist, but it's rather annoying, especially when no one knows who you are.

To answer a few pressing questions from M3/4 post members and put some anxious minds at ease:
- Yes, the ECU flash is real, this is not a hoax! No smoke and mirrors, it’s not a reported Yeti sighting… Hehe - Yes, the ECU flash is done via the OBD2 Port just as the factory would do it. - Yes, the Max speed limiter is deactivated (See Video Link on previous post) - Data Logs and Related Information: We will post more information in the coming weeks as we are currently developing tunes for the F10 M5, the GSR 228i Racing Project, the 650 and 740 non M Turbo V8’s, and the current Generation 35i engines. Please be patient as there is a massive amount of work involved in bringing these products to market utilizing proper testing methodology and validation processes. It is our goal to present the community with the best possible products that combine amazing performance with factory reliability. As you can imagine having an OBD2 Flash available for the current “Untunable” generation of vehicles is no easy feat. While we are new to this Forum, we are an established and respected company. We have a very talented and experienced team which brings unique technical capabilities to the BMW Marketplace. Check out our New Sponsor Intro Post or give us a call to find out more… |

This is so legit! Can't wait for more info...
One question for the GSR guys though; why only 50 or so WHP increase on the inital flash? Isn't a flash supposed to unlock significantly more potential than a piggyback tune?
