plus the areas that are changed for tuning aren't completely obvious so it would take a highly trained eye to see whats up. My (and the LET/EC guys) best guess was if a tech did feel like the car was running too lean or something, they would most likely just perform a system update or reset of the ECU using the GT1 computer and see what happened when they did that. That would erase the flash and thus when the car looked to be running normally they would say it was "fixed". That is really the only down side of the flash vs the piggy back. However, it very unlikely that they would even notice it in the 1st place. |

Doesn't LET/EC provide with a re-flash incase the dealer does overwrite the tune though (making that down side a moot point)?

Yes, however I keep hearing they charge you a small fee to do it (or at least their vendors are trying to). Tony never mentioned that to me personally but I guess others have asked about it (not sure who they asked though) and were told if it gets erased they need to pay something to get it put back on.

I just really don't trust anything that masks the stock programming of the ECU from letting the car operate normally. By actually changing the stock programming with the same software that BMW uses to program the cars themselves, you are letting the car run under its normal operating conditions as far as the car/ecu is concerned. Also, a piggy back doesn't change any of the allowed parameters in terms of things like emissions or things like that, which is why piggy backs of heavily modded cars often throw codes especially with mods like catless DP's on the N54. With a proper flash, you can expand those parameter values and don't even need an o2 sim because the values sent to the newly programmed ECU are within range after they are changed. |

yeah i don't really see why that was relevant. They didn't see his PBX... doesn't mean they won't always overlook it.

UPDATE
So just wondering if anyone else has gotten the tune and what they think about it? I know the PBX has gotten popular but I still love this tune and it feels even a touch stronger with the cold weather right now.
Any new LET/Eurocharged fans? |
