Half yellow check engine light

Hello all!

I got my car back from Fields BMW Daytona,I let it sit for a few weeks. When I went to start it, it started fine then 30 sec later the half yellow light check engine light came on.

So can someone break this down this potential bad new down for me? What is the meaning of the half yellow check engine.

EricCruiz JB4 but I havent really learned to use it. The previous owner of car had it installed

Before starting to read codes with JB4, have a pen & paper to write things down. The menu goes fast, but you can keep doing this if you miss anything. I would not recommend plugging in a laptop unless you can find the USB connection coming from your firewall.

Press down & down on the steering wheel buttons
Go up to Speedometer 10 using the left up/down buttons on steering wheel (codes menu)
Go up to Odometer 10 using right up/down buttons on steering wheel (read codes)
Press down on the left steering wheel button to read codes

First: Blinkers will flash for how many codes are stored, write this down
Then, blinkers flash a few times to prepare you to write down codes
Now the speedo will begin to move to certain speeds, 4 at a time. Write down each speed it stops at. The blinkers will flash twice between each code that is stored

Now see the below threads for translation and additional information. I just google search these codes 1 at a time for description & common causes/solutions, works really well

Note: It also might help, after you've written down all codes stored, to delete them and see if the issues re-surface. To do this, go to Speedo 10 menu (again, codes) then Odometer 20 (reset codes). Once Speedo reads 10 and Odo 20, press down on the left steering wheel button to clear your codes

Same thing kept happening to me I took it to Ferman Bmw in tampa and they said the low pressure O2 sensor was faulty. I think it cost around 300-350.

I found the usb cord, do I need to download any software on to my laptop?

You can download and install the jb4 interface here:

it's pretty simple to use once installed just follow the instructions and plug into the usb.

I am pissed because Fields was in my car and I think they drove the car kind of hard... Fields logged 17 miles, a quarter tank of gas and burned a lil oil. This happened right after I get the car back from Fields! Its my opinion that they cherry pick what they want and dont want to repair under the recalls and extended warranted parts..

Thanks to everyone's input, I reading how to read codes via JB4 as I write this...

Then it might just be a simple CEL for the o2 sensors due to catless downpipes. If your car feels fine, don't kill yourself over it but that could more than likely be the case
