Xenon vs LED brightness
anyone probably has experienced both using the Xenon and the LED, which one is brighter?
My car is xenon, and i am contemplating whether to upgrade to LED, but safety is my concern, i like the headlight to be bright and if Xenon is brighter than LED, then i will not upgrade, but if LED is much better, it makes the purchase more justifable thanks. |

There's not enough difference to make it worthwhile, especially as you can't just pop out an HID bulb and pop in an LED bulb, you have to replace the entire lamp.

however changing the entire housing is not cheap, but want to know if it's worth the difference as it cost thousands of dollars to do it., especially if i go the adaptive LED. |

The Adaptive Xenon’s are fantastic lights. You won’t see noticeably better for the $$$$ to swap. If it’s for ‘safety’, it’s not worth it… but if you like that excuse have at it. Lol

Unless one of your current headlight module dies or any other malfunction happens and you’re faced with the decision to either buy one or change the entire system to tge LED ones it’s not worth the cost.
The 5-10% difference doesn’t justify the cost and work to completely swap them. Just my 2c |

Despite much of the BS you will read online, the F30/F31 LEDs are very inferior to Xenons. The actual lm were stated in the UK thread of different models about 5 years ago.
This is a particularly bad problem for non-adaptive LEDs, though the Adaptives still aren’t superior to Xenon. It isn’t as great of a problem with the F32/F8x LED headlights which are a different design, but there are still issues with brightness compared to Xenons with the low beams. For whatever reason, the F30/F31 LEDs were built using a design lifted from the halogen F30 headlights. That results in their poor performance. As the F32/F80/F82, LCIs were a year behind, and as the F30/F31 LED headlight issues became apparent, those newer LCIs were redesigned more straight forward. And that is why the F30/F31 LEDs headlights are worse than the other BMW’s Headlights and Xenon’s put out more light. This links tells you all you need to know. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...ghlight=Xenons Last edited by YASBBYM3; 06-13-2022 at 12:03 AM.. |
