Fitted the camera emulator tonight and coded $3AG, works a treat, no dynamic lines, but not too bothered about that. I did split the video signal between CIC and MMI, so can easily switch between either system. But honestly prefer the CIC screen for parking.

Because I'd already wired the camera to the CIC, I wired the emulator into PDC wiring in the boot, nice and simple and plenty of space to put it.

For reference I used pins 21 and 24 on the quadlock and had to code RVC_CIC to wert 23 for it to work.

my voice button works the same with either setting, maybe it's an Apple thing, I'm using Android. My telephone doesn't bring up the phone app in AA, when using car BT either, but does answer calls, a bit of a pain, but I prefer using the car BT and can still access the phone app using the idrive control in AA, a couple of extra steps, or I dial using google assistant.

Where have you got the mic installed? next to the OEM mic or somewhere else? Have you got another mic you could try, some of these chinese mics are very bad quality. In my experience echo's usually come from poor hardware, same with PC mics.

I have a cable from the mic input on the MMI, that runs to the OEM mic in the roof, so I can use one mic for both systems.

I see.
Biggest pain for me using car BT is that i need to say „hey siri“ or hold the lock button on the phone to get siri started.
That the phone app is not opening is less of a pain.

I have a nbt unit, so i didn‘t have a second mic, BMW mic/front aux connected by quadlock is used in any way. Just BT connection i can switch to car BT or MMI BT.

Hmmmm i guess i need to mess aroubd with the mic settings to find a setting with echo the caller can live with or switch to car BT with the siri issue

I was hoping maybe one of you found a suitable mic setting to improve the echo issue to a minimum.

Maybe the siri issue can be solved by uncoding the voice assistant of BMW by esys / bimmercode. But have none of them at hand currently.

1. Adjust the volume of the original car to normal use
2. Turn the volume in ’audio‘ setting to 13
3. Turn the ’Microphone Volume‘ to 12

5. Adjust 'AEC quality' to 2
6. If the caller hears the echo interval for a long time, fine-tune the 'Microphone delay'
7. If the caller hears a small voice, you can fine-tune the ’Microphone Volume‘ and ’Microphone PGA'

Thanks, but none of these settings worked.
Always there is a echo, bot all the time, but quite irritating.
Additionally I don‘t have „AEC Quality“ in my settings.

I‘m back on „use car BT“, much better, no echo at all.
Only issue there is ghat if pressing the voice button to get siri started, siri somehow gets interrupted and doesn‘t work the majority of the times.

Any idea how to fix the siri issue when using car BT?

Did you buy the „non hdmi“ variant?
I had it first, very buggy and quite reduces settings, i got it replaced by the „HDMI variant“ with much more settings.
For me there was no was to avoid the echo without „use car BT“.
Only issue is the voice button not working properly with siri as weitten above, searching for a fix

Yes, I did buy the non-hdmi. I’ll look into replacing it with the hdmi-version.

How did you manage to do this? Did you just contact Andream support with the question to replace?

Mine was quite buggy often times showed just a black screen, so they offered by themselfes to replace it, i think they even stopped selling it recently.

I had a 2016 330i F30, it come with NBT EVO (with the Build-in 4G and uses the "EVO" maps instead of "NEXT".

Should I get the NBT version of the MMI or the EVO version of the MMI ?

When deliberately trying to start a software update without a USB drive inserted the system states that a GEMINI_PACK.BIN! file is not present, i.e. this proves that the unit is looking for GEMINI files rather than ISPBOOOT.BIN.

Software tends to be updated for reasons of stability improvements and/or functionality enhancements so I'd like to update the unit if possible, however...

Could someone with real knowledge or experience of the Andream units comment / correct / advise regarding the following :

1. Is the software version a more reliable indicator of the model, i.e. in reality I have a B unit even though B2 is stated in the system information ?
2. Conversely, is it more likely that it's a B2 unit but running a software version that precedes the earliest version (1.1.5) listed in Post #3 ?
3. If I have a B2 unit, and bearing in mind that 1.1.5 is the earliest version available for download in Post #3, does that effectively mean that my unit doesn't have a software upgrade path (because the instructions in Post #3 state that GEMINI files have to be installed sequentially, and versions must not be skipped) ?
4. Can CUST and MCU be updated independently (i.e. in any sequence) or, for example, does the MCU have to be updated first ?

Hi all!

Got my MMI from Andream(EU) [https://www.android-car-dvd.de/] this week and just finished to install it in my 2016 F45 Activ Tourer (not easy to find a spot for the MMI!). For me the main goal was to get the Android Auto since my OEM SatNav is locked to Japan (im in Ireland).

Got zero manual in the box but I knew how to connect it up from looking online.... got the Android Auto working from my phone with WiFi (I assume its using WiFi) so this is great but now I have a few issues:

• If Im on Google maps the Reverse Camera does not come on, need to exit from MMI, is that normal? Was expecting it to change auto?
• The bigger issue is the Telephone Audio, I can call or be called but I cant hear the person on the other end? I have set the "Multimedia" to "External and "Aux" as I think you are meant to do but nothing... they can hear me fine.

This last problem is the same if I phone from OEM I-Drive by the way.. where I am a bit lost is with what should connect to what, I have BT Paired on OEM I-Drive from before the install and I have WiFi now from the MMI + BT Paired (I see its already paired in MMI BT Devices) - Am I missing something here?

Well, let me go with the easy one first. The MCU can be updated with much less risk, in my experience, even across models B and B2 and brands. May not be true in all cases. Normally doing CUST or MCU first does not matter, but if your MCU and CUST dates have years between them...it may be an issue.


My best guess is that it is a Andream B2 (Version 1). Not aware that anyone flashed a B2 on a B and lived to tell about it...so unlikely, but possible. There is a post referencing "freeozone" who updated to "B2_V1.2.0_t" the same exact CUST and MCU as yours:

I have tried adjusting top, and left scrap in Carplay settings but they only effect the AA screen. Road Top support has been very good with other issues but they haven't addressed this one yet. I am just wondering if any of the other units have this issue as well.

1. Check your Android phone display settings. I am not intimately familiar with Android phones, but there are some quirky deep settings.

2. DIP switch settings are not always uniform between these MMI units.

3. Is your 8.8" display original to the car or retrofit? Did you ever code the resolution on it?

The HDMI signal is coming from a Chromecast unit. I appears that 720P is the only resolution I can set that to when connected to the MMI. See picture below.

The dip switches are set correctly for this display as it works for AA and the MMI main menu.

This is the original display and no coding has been done. The setting are: DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION = 8.8_1280x480
DISPLAY_VARIANTE = breites_display
I changed them around but that just caused blank screen or NO SIGNAL display.

Did anyone successfully installed it on a g30? I'm really struggling with the harness of the original cable for the display. I can't separate it. Any suggestions?
