330i H&R Sport Suspension help needed
Hey all, installed H&R sport kit (spring and Dampers) on my N53 330i.
I've done 300 miles on the front struts and more on the rear shocks. Something is clearly wrong with the fronts, they're riding way too high (2 fingers can slot into the gap)). Any suggestions on what could be wrong? I haven't been able to use a torque wrench on the compression nut yet, but surely this isn't enough of a reason for it to be riding this high? I loaded the suspension when installing by using my jack, could it be I didn't load it enough? Also the rear almost looks too low? I cant fit my fingers into the wheel arch at all. What could cause this, faulty shocks/springs or is it right? |

The front looks perfect to me, any lower and you'll have zero travel. Did you use new strut mounts up front? If so, that will give you a little height over the old worn ones as they compress quite a bit with age.
The rear is way too low. Did you get coupe specific springs? As I recall, H&R has quite a few part numbers for each combo of car, ie n54 coupe, etc. Did you use the spring pads in the rear? |

31054-2 looks like its for the 335 Sedan vehicles (N54/N55); Explains why it sits wrong Edit: Looks like H&R doesnt make a sport cup kit for the coupes/convertibles http://www.hrsprings.com/application...s/4/Suspension |

I'd certainly at least contact the vendor to see what their take is. Something isn't right, that's for certain!
If the front is still too high after the rear is sorted, you could swap in Xd top mounts to lower it by ~10mm without reducing the available travel. |

When I was 16 I took a stab at installing a set of lowering springs on my E46. First time doing suspension work and I flipped the springs - put the front on the rears and the rears on the front. Looked just like your car when I set it back on the ground before I realized what I did.
Needless to say there was a lot of cursing at myself that day! I’m guessing you’re smarter than my 16 year old self but everyone can make stupid mistakes |

What I'm thinking is I may not have torqued the rear control arm properly and I still am yet to torque the inner thrust arm bolt at ride height so that could cause the front to jump higher I think. So I'll stick the car on a DIY ramp (blocks of wood) and torque it tomorrow. |

I tried torquing to ride height, it made a small difference but the front is still too high! Any further advice? I have the small little spacers on the strut mounts, they're probably like 2mm thick, I can't think of anything else that could change things.
