I found the guy who owns the car. his blog is obsessedgarage.com and he has a lot of info about the car and seems responsive to comments and whatnot.
Maybe reach out to him to see if there are any tricks his shop had to go through to make it that low. Good luck!

Interesting that looks lower front than my HAS would ever go. Maybe they beat the replacement perch down on the shock further?

Maybe since my car is an f82 and it has more natural wheel gap then the f80 but mine sits slightly higher then the picture as well...

I was on H&R Sports before - way too bouncy. Despite the height issue, which should be fixed soon, the ride on the KW is alot better and sporty. Guess it depends what you are after!

It is really not bouncy to me, I guess it's all personal preference. I like the ride quality and height of H&R sport

Keep us posted. I plan on getting the HAS KIT myself once my car arrives in June. I am interested in knowing if this resolves your issue.

Right, so i just wanted to update everybody who is subscribed to this thread as i don't want people to be put off buying a KW HAS kit as it is a great kit.
First off, the install was done by PRESTIGE WHEELS CENTRE IN BIRMINGHAM. On their first installation, I had to argue the fact that the car did not sit right before any action was taken then when it was I was told that it was KW’s problem of a bad batch (which is very, very hard to believe in my opinion and everybody else I spoke to about this). I had no way of confirming this, so I had to take their word for it as they would not let me into their workshop to view/monitor the install. On their second installation, my car was thrown outside without a second thought and I was told it was done without anybody providing me any evidence that the suspension installed was corrected. I was given the car at 5.25pm by which point there was literally nothing I could do but accept it as they were closing at 5:30pm. Not one of their staff even came out to show me and assure me that the install was correct. The immediately alerted them that the car was sitting in exactly the same place and I was just told it would “settle”. How it would settle by an inch, I do not know. On both occasions, I had to wait for the car for over 7 hours which is pretty ridiculous. After all of this, I decided to have a specialist check the installation (because frankly, I did not have much trust in their services judging from the way everything was handled especially their attitude towards the situation and I had my suspicions that things were not right as did everybody else who had heard about it or seen the installation on this forum and in person). What we found was absolutely shocking and actually quite dangerous and damaging to my car. Below are the re-installation notes from what we experienced when taking apart the front struts to fix their botched up installation. These notes are directly from the re-installer – I was present during this as was another witness. Passenger side - The suspension strut was not correctly put back into the clamp - with the locating tab not in the correct place - the result was the locking bolt had been forced in and done up and was extremely difficult to get out. The wear and tear on the locating tab has been shown in Picture 1 where it has been forced and jammed into the bracket. - The KW perches were not correctly orientated so the BMW TPMS was incorrectly located and so was the position of the sway bars. - After removing the top of the strut - 2 bump stops had been put into the shock strut which was incorrect – One from KW, one OEM. See Picture 2.1 & 2.2. - The perch had to be re-orientated to the correct location and then on taking it off we discovered it had not been knocked on far enough to the shock, approximately 20mm off where it should have been. - There were no markings on the suspension strut at all to indicate the existing setup had been measured up as per KWs instructions. Drivers side - When removed, the top of be strut again 2 bump stops had been inserted – One from KW, one OEM. - The black plastic shock cover guard had been forced on and also the side of it had been snapped off. Absolutely vile, that this had been done, and I was not told. See Picture 3. - The perch needed to be located and also knocked on to the correct level to allow the car to actually be lowered without machining out the spring adjustment. Overall - The perches were on full adjustment down. - The grub screws on the KW Spring perch were not tightened as per instructions so literally the ride height could adjust by driving – Again, shocking. - One of the fluid tanks attached to the strut brace had been reinstalled wrongly. The 10mm bolt had been cross-threaded and as a result had broken the brass bolt carrier away from the tank. This needed to be replaced and re tapped. See Picture 4. “Overall the install was very poor and had clearly been done by somebody without the capability to install such suspension.” I have also attached pictures of the car before and after the install. Also note that the after picture still has 11.2mm of spring coil left in the adjustment and is already lower. It is pretty ridiculous that a supposedly "professional" company like them could make such a mess of this. It has been both damaging to my car and very dangerous as the struts were both just being held together simply by force. On top of this, all the company were ONLY willing to give me back was the original installation cost Ł216 + some contribution to damage parts which is rightly mine anyway. Where do I recover the costs for the time, petrol, the extra cost of the kit having to purchase from them, damage occurred to the car, travel and cost for re-installation? Understandably, I am furious about this situation as I take alot of pride in my car as I know all of you do and I do not normally - infact I have never rewritten a review in my life - but I felt the world needs to know about this as it was so shocking to me. I hope this puts faith back into people wanting the KW HAS kit as there was simply nothing wrong with it at all as i was led to believe. Many thanks for all of those who contributed in the thread. I appreciate your help and support!

Wow, what an ordeal! Glad you got it resolved and it looks much better based on your comparison pics. KW makes a great product.
I wish the HAS kit went lower to remove that little .25-.50 gap. It would be perfect. -Vin

Holy shit. That is literally the worst installation I have ever seen. I am glad you went the distance to figure out what happened. To me that is not just an improper installation; it is a group of assholes that just doesn't give a shit. We have our fair share of shops like that in the Los Angeles area.

UPDATE:
I just wanted to update everybody on the progess with this - basically, none! I posted this review on Instagram twice of which both times it was removed by somebody. I can only assume who. i wouldn't be surprised if this comes down either sooner or later. It was clear that people supported my situation on Instagram and Prestige Wheel's response in the comments under pressure was poor to say the least. There was no intention at all of getting the problem resolved. But it gets worse, a couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of removing the back wheels as I wanted to raise the car - much to my surprise - or not, that was also ****ed up. They had left on the suspension guard at the top which made it impossible to adjust the ride height and they had not even used the KW bump stop that comes with the kit. Now I have no idea if this is negligence or just downright laziness but that fitter should not be allowed near a car. Pictures have been shown below. I have sent multiple e-mails to them since this discovery all of which have been simply ignored. I have now given up on trying to chase this up because it is just wasting my time. Either way, after this crap experience, I just wanted people to be aware of what and who they are dealing with, especially if things **** up like they did for me. Proceed with caution is what I say... 0 customer service. Also I want to say a massive thank you to Garage 786 and Ash for fixing the botch up for me on such short notice. Much more professionally done and the work was immaculate. Fitters who know exactly what they are doing. Anybody who something doing without worrying - go here for sure.

I know I'm waking up an old thread, but @IC3BLAK do you happen to know the drop on the back?
I have the same setup as yours regarding wheels, and going to mount the KW HAS for a few days. I was thinking to go with a max drop on the front, and maybe a 5 to 10mm on the back. My setup is: 20x9.5 et22 275/30/20 Michelin PSS 20x10.5 et35 295/30/20 Michelin PSS |
