Hi all,

I just replaced the PCV diaphram on the 440i.

However i cracked the oem cap. It is still in one piece but cracked half way from the edge to the middle.

I tried putting on the aftermarket cap, it sits correctly but obviously isnt firmly intact. Can remove it by hand and spin it by hand.

Whats the best thing to do?

- Superglue the crack on the oem cap and use it?

- Plastic weld the crack on the oem cap and use it?

- Should i use the aftermarket cap the way it is?

- Or put a liquid paste sealer around the edge of the aftermarket cap and use it that way,

Thanks

I believe BMW now sells a pcv kit for the B58 separately, that includes the cap, spring and diaphragm. Don't have the part # atm but I'll look it up...

There you go. It's not cheap though, might be cheaper to buy the valve cover!

Appreciate it!

Looked up the prices and I dont think I'll spend 300$ on a plastic cap 😂

Out of the options i mentioned above whats the best thing to do? Im leaning towards plastic welding the oem cap.

The integrity is still there feels solid but it just has the crack from the edge to the middle

I've never plastic welded anything, but I think as long as the diaphragm is intact then you should be fine
