Laker's get Artest. Are they better off?

Looks like Arizza was asking for too much. I liked him, but he was a 9 and 4 guys who wanted 7mil a year.

Yeah, Ariza was asking for too much. Anyway, Lakers were missing a bruiser in the lineup and especially, someone to protect Kobe. I guess they got their man. If you can't beat them, join them.

yes.. he's better on offense than ariza.. his d may or may not be overrated at this point in his career but there's no question he will be better guarding bigger sf/ maybe even a pf here and there. we are losing some of ariza's footspeed and ability to guard 1s and 2s, but i think kobe will be able to fill in now that he's got artest to back him up with the bigger guys.

Ariza went for the full mid-level, which is just a little more than the Laker's offered him. He did get a longer contract though.

i think it's a great signing for the Lakers especially since he came in cheaper than Ariza. now they just have to resign Odem and they got a great chance to repeat.
next year looks to be real exciting with so many players changing teams. the other top teams are also improving (cavs, spurs, celtics if they sign sheed, maybe orlando if they can resign turk, etc..) to try to content with the Lakers.. really looking forward to next season. |

Even if they get him - I don't think they will be a contender, not with the moves other teams are making.
