Eyebrows/Eyelids

Hey, I was reading around and saw that I'm not the only person who doesn't like the look of the orange on the sides of the turn signals. Have any companies come out with a eyebrow type thing yet, or if not what have other people done to change that part of their car?

The yellow is there because of DOT regulations. I'm not suggesting anyone be worried about getting pulled over for "wrong color" turn signals, but they have spec'd that color for a reason.

I'm all for the freedom of people modding their cars to their taste, even when it's not my taste, but some parts of the car (believe it or not) actually perform practical functions. You want to cover up your forward turn signals and hazzard flashers? That's what those "yellow things" do you know. So, when some landscaper in his state body hits you head on because he didn't know you were turning left (no visible turn signal) who are you going to blame for that? At least then the front of your car will be unique looking!

Why not just black-out the whole light assembly? Go ahead, it'll look cool. Who needs headlights anyway?

Just doesn't make sense to want to cover the reflectors/signals.

I just dont like how the yellow outlines the edges of the headlights...and theres still the side panel turn signal...as of right now all the lights on my car are HID so it looks awsome to have the white turn signals...even the reverse lights are HID. I have dark grey vinyl eyebrows on the car right now which look good even tho it may not sound like it, they are on there until real ones come out. So far everyone one loves the look of the front of the car with what ive done to it

DOT standards require the front corner reflector to be amber. The Front turn signal light can be amber or white, so feel free to change out the bulb.

The vinyl covers look good, and you guys obviously spent some serious time and effort. If that's the look you're going for then more power to you. Again, I just feel that there are certain components of the car that first serve a practical purpose and asthetics are secondary. I think BMW did a great job of making the headlight system look awesome. I like the amber because it's nice to have some accent there.

I think the car would also look cleaner without those pesky windshield wipers... better take them off too.

My argument about the turn signals was obviously misplaced. I forgot that most Americans don't know what those are for anyway.

When looking at them straight on at night, do the eyebrows break up the circular line of the angel eyes?

He can always roll down the window and use hand signals. Turn signals were supposed to be a convenience. Seems doing nothing is more convenient.

Hey wasup, thanks for the feedback. We went to a local sign store and purchased 18" by 14" sheets of high quality vinyl with adhesive on one side. You apply it using the stencil and cut out what u dont need. Then use a credit card to get the bubbles out. There are still goin to be some very small bubbles once you are done but the heat from teh headlights makes those dissapear after a couple days. The car you saw was done first so the first headlight took like an hour. After that we had a stencil for the outline of the reflector so it went pretty quick after that.

I dont have the stencil, my friend does but ill talk to him about getting it and possibly making copies of it. later

wow. looks good. Cheapest/easiest alternative to go "clear headlights".

I think when the front turn signals blink, it will still be visible from the front. Our e90s have funtional sidemarkers that actually blink when you turn on turn-signals, so I don't see any legal issues here? correct me if im wrong on this.

LZ - He's just covering the reflector, not the actual turn signal lamp. If I remember correctly, the amber bulb is housed inside the light assy separate from the reflector. Masking the side markers is an entirely different issue.

That being said, I really like the aesthetic look of the amber reflector. It also serves a purpose in that the corners of the car can be seen by oncoming drivers if the car is parked.

This is an unwarranted rant. Those covers do not block the turn signals -- merely the reflectors.
