Based on the reading I've done - the Suspension Techniques is a good option if you aren't in a snowy area where sand and salt can corrode the components.

Yeah that's basically the conclusion I've come to-- unfortunately for me I live in the northeast so it looks like I'll have to decide between all the different springs/shocks options or bite the bullet on the kw v1s...

I've had both springs and shocks. I've also had KW's. If you're just looking for performance and a simple stance look, combo spring sand shocks are better for you. Plus, if you don't mess with adjusting the height then there's another reason. This was my contemplation when my KW's started to leak, I realized I don't mess with the suspension at all. Think about what you want to use each setup as.

Yeah I don't see myself adjusting the suspension often. Only reason I could see needing to is if the car was too low for daily driving after the install. I assume your going with the eibach pro kit i springs for the new set up?

Yes, I have the eibach i springs on. They're still settling in. Normally, I had H&R's but I wanted to try something different.

Better comfort than the coilovers. They still handle great but it'll handle better when I add camber plates with front and rear sway bars. I'll be tracking my car a few times in the summer.

If you're not too bothered about setting up your suspension with coilovers, SWIFT have a lowering spring kit available for the 335i which we currently have special pricing on:
Front 4K (-25mm), Rear 11K (-20mm) |

Ok, sorry for double post, already asked this on suspension section, but since I am interested in x-drive (don't mind my sig, it is not updated) I thought I would ask here. All i need is a little lower setup with less body roll (compared to stock 328xi) and some improvement in handling. What's the best bang for the buck combo to not break the bank?

Can you please lay out some options? I may sell the car next year, so I don't want to go over the head, so I'm looking at combo below $1K, but it has to be for x-drive, it has to reduce body roll and improve handling and if at all possible I want to avoid that look when front gap is bigger than rear on x-drive. I know I probably want too much, but any combo hitting that target?

If you want a full coilover setup (with full adjustability, camber/caster, SWIFT Springs etc), our new coilovers will be shipping in March (we are taking pre-orders just now @ $1200)
If your budget doesn't extend that far, you could give the regular oem replacement Koni's a try coupled with a good set of springs like Eibach |

Over the Christmas holiday, I installed the H&R Street Performance coilovers.
Install was a breeze (took 4-5 hours including height adjustments) and the feel and handling is great. Not too firm and I can actually feel what the road is doing under my tires! |

This thread has been a great read and very informative. I should be getting my xDrive this week and I feel like my decision is to go the Koni Yellow route w/ Eibach "i" springs.
I'm confused about the modified strut, though. I didn't think the strut impacted the ride height. I thought modifying it 1/2" to 1" only affected the travel distance to the bump stop. Now I'm hearing modifying the strut eliminates the rake. Can someone help me understand? Also, does one run any risks in modifying the strut? Does the Koni warranty still apply? Much appreciated all! |
