Ok, it seems Shiv made progress, but he will need another session at least. I have to get to work tomorrow, so I can't stick around too late. We will try to do this some time other than weekday nights, but it will likely be after thanksgiving. So those that are interested will have to wait a bit more. In the mean time, let's keep this thread going by showing our interest.

Hi guys,
Quick update: We got full control over lambda/AFR target. So I'm very happy about that. Now we just have to arrange for some more tuning time to dial everything in. Tuning this engine takes a lot longer than tuning an N54 since you are are trying to gain power through so many different angles (as compared to just turning up the boost and adjusting timing/fuel). So the process is pretty time consuming. But the good news is that the OTS maps will be very well developed Shiv |

I wonder what the gains are going to look like... maybe 12 hp/15 tq?? close to AA?

Shiv and the mad scientists at Vishnu should easily attain those numbers and possibly more. Transmissions and rwd vs awd will also obviously make a difference in those gains. Glad to see another tune coming to the N52 but I'm still going to hold back until I've switched platforms before I start shopping aftermarket stuff again.
Looking forward to seeing the numbers.

Awww c'mon!! A little more boost, some E85... oh wait. Man!! LOL!!
I'm well aware but I'm sure there is room left to grow in the factory tune for more power and better mpg, and I prefer to do the tuning my self rather than pay someone else to do it or just use an OTS tune. |

Dunno how much research you've done into this platform but a while back a guy named Gavin from MMW tried to put a Vortech Supercharger on the N52. After a lot of time had passed and what seemed to be a nearly complete project, he went silent and nothing else was posted. Most if not everyone that followed it presumed he blew up which a lot of the N54 guys were assuming would happen. The other issue that comes into play is the transmission. For whatever reason (cost probably being the most obvious) BMW gave the N52 a pretty weak Manual transmission. I think if I remember correctly the max its rated at is something like 350hp. Gavin's goal was to hit 300whp with a possible stage 2 conversion after a reliable setup was reached. Obviously that never happened but it should give you an idea of where we sit in the E90/92 crowd. 3 stage intake manifold, tune, k&n drop in, and exhaust are pretty much the only real power gainers (manifold being the most with a proper tune). Unless you spray it, there really isn't anything else out there for these engines.
