There is nothing wrong with "only" driving V8's but don't be surprised when the next 6cyl. Mutli-Turbo M4 (or M3) spanks your V8 (stock vs stock)...

I'll have to check out Audi's google Earth Navi
In terms of performance, seems like the FI 3.0 engines outperform the NA V8's until you rev those things out. At the racetrack, it's obvious the V8 gives more, but for DD I love the instant torque whenever/wherever. Not to mention, a 1.5k aftermarket tune can net very similar peak HP by tricking the boost sensors in the upper RPM band. The place where the contest *ends* is in the sound department.

Very nice coupe. I prefer it much more than the concept model.

By the way, did anyone notice that a Porsche Cayenne is doing the shootout for a BMW 4-series?

Yep remember watching a TV show about these they are owned by few firms in US for this kind a shoots they are very specialist cars with the huge cam rigs mounted through the roof and video kit in the boot. Not very load legal but useful for moving shoots.

Probably would see the same on every other shoot for merc, audi etc

I get it if you don't like it compared to other modern vehicles but bringing 10-year-old + models as a comparison? Why don't you include E30s as well? Don't get me wrong, I love E46 but don't get too hung up on older models IMO.

Heard of classic cars?
Just because a car is old doesn't mean they can't be compared.
Cars become a classic because they either were the best of it's time or had exceptional design or performance.
The E46 had it in spades and that is the reason many modern bimmers are compared to the E46 and the same goes for the current 5er F10 being compared to the E39.
Those generation of BMW's had design and quality that was exceptional compared to the competition and for the cars of that time.
The design of those cars are timeless and still look good today. While the e90 and F30 look good they don't compare to E46.
You will say the same looking back at these cars you will see that the E46 design is phenomenal compared to the e90 and F30.

Are the fender vents fake like M3s of late? Or is it actually serving a purpose other than looks.

Audi's google earth navi - ha, I did not know people buy cars these days because navi display shows buildings in 3d. Material quality - maybe but questionable, anything else - no way in hell!

A1, A3, A4, A5, A6, A8 same sausage - different length.
+1, plus interior pieces fall off from time to time.

By the way, you can get a full google satellite image in the iDrive, with buildings in 3D.

Whenever a company releases a new version of a great car, everyone starts to criticize and complain. Then, 1 year later the same people go out and buy one for themselves.

A few days ago when I was enjoying an F12 M6 south of Munich a couple of F32s came along. One regular 435 and one U.S spec 428. The thing that surprised me was that the U.S 428 had red indicators (also when indicating)

On the US spec car, that was probably a built-in laser interceptor

There is a reason why we call it "classic cars." Personally, I wouldn't put <20-year-old vehicles under "classics." (Whatever this means) I just found it hilarious that E46 is the "best looking BMW ever made" and your "classic" comment about it. Clearly, I am the odd one here. My apologies.

This car is ugly as sin. How could they mess thus up so badly with such a great concept? Seriously just make the concept it's not hard.

Other than the fender, I cannot really see much difference from the F30. Can somebody please enlighten me on what else is drastically different?
