Yes, call me old-fashioned, but as much as I like my very capable iPhones, the Apple CarPlay integration is constantly running one function into the other. case in point: just browsing Twitter of FB (of course, while parked) mutes whatever audio you're listening to and automatically changes to the audio feed from the phone. Nifty and all but I'd rather just have the audio from my iPod Classic thru the AUX input all the time and I'll decide if there's something from my phone worth listening thru CarPlay. Just thinking about it makes me weepy eyed for the AUX input

I have a couple things that piss me off on the F30 compared to my other BMWs.

1. Gear shift leaver, still getting used to just toggling into place, I always have to double check that I have it in gear or in park. one of these days I'm going to end up driving through the garage wall or door;
2. the controls on the steering wheel changed sides. FFS, why did they do that?
3. Wipers, I can't fold my wipers back to clean underneath them without damaging my hood. My E90 I could do it. But not on the F30.

Only thing I hate is the brakes. I don't have the track handling pack so I just have the regular M-sport brakes and they are not sufficient for a sports car in my opinion. They fade way too quickly

Very valid gripes. I agree....

It's in the manual, but here's a thread for you:
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1290971

From the manual: Fold-out position of the wipers. Fold wipers back when you want to change the blades or with pending low temperatures.
1. Switch the ignition on and off again.
2. With icy conditions make sure that blades
are not frozen to the windshield.
3. Press the wiper lever up beyond the point
of resistance and hold it for approx. 3 seconds,
until the wiper remains in a nearly
vertical position.
After the wipers are folded back down, the
wiper system must be reactivated.

Incredible! I'll bet that only one in 20 owners know this. Now I'll have to forget something important in order to remember this!!!!! Just don't ask the guy at the local parts store or garage to change your blades......

Oh, one more...no door sill covers/caps for the rear door. My daughter getting in and out of the car is going to scratch the shit out of it.

A F30 was my first BMW, then I picked up an E90 for a daily driver and I immediately noticed the volume was on the wrong side in the E90 .

The most annoying thing of the F30 is that the radio doesn't shut off when you open the door. But I coded that fix in.

I was annoyed by the radio initially too and coded it to turn off.
Then decided to give it a chance and you know what - while it still feels odd that I am going out of the car and the radio keeps playing, it is a convenient reminder that I have not yet locked the car!
And besides that it is nice to keep listening to music while taking the stuff out of the trunk
So I started to like it and left it on as intended.

I agree with you, especially regarding the stock exhaust, on the 430i it is too quiet, I'll definitely consider a new exhaust with just a bit more oomph. Also the engine, like many other 4 cylinders, sounds like a sewing machine. I wish I could've gone for a 6 cylinder 3 or 4 series but my 430i was the best choice overall.

If you move the gear lever to sport,it shows what gear you are in. But in D it just shows D. Of course is S it changes the shift points.

Omg the exhaust holy shit!

My biggest complaint is when shifting gears that shit lag for the clutch. Not only does it stop you from shifting quickly but it slows down the turbo that you worked so hard to spool up for 20 seconds. Hahah

Sorry to break it to you homie but a 340i is not a sports car.

I'm loving my F31 but if I had to nit-pick? I would say the stock ride height. I had to look in the wheel wells to see whether or not the shipping blocks were left behind!

It literally says sport sedan right from BMW. I didn't say it was a track car

There is a difference between 'sports sedan' or 'sporty car' vs. an actual sports car. The 340i is a sports sedan but not a sports car. Sorry to be technical bruh but the 'sports car' phrase is oftentimes tossed around too loosely.

I've seen this discussion had SoooooOOooOo many times.

Whenever someone doesnt consider a 340/335 a sports car, just start asking them their definition of a sports car. Then blur the lines by asking if a S63 is a sports car, panamera gts, then blur them more with an M5/M6... it's just a vague definition...

YMMV but mine is simply:

1.) Two (2) doors
2.) Two (2) seater
3.) RWD/AWD
4.) Performance oriented

It gets very technical and opinionated so I'll leave it at that. Some -like me- consider the 911 (2+2) a GT and not a sports car =)

I don't even consider the M3 a sports car.

Hello BMW Experts!

Don't you love it when people argue about advertising terms as if they meant something?
