Well, after listening to jet taking off, even a pneumatic drill seems quiet.

Not sure why the door pockets have that hump towards the front... It's like the designer purposefully reduced the volume of the pocket. I don't get it.
Also... I wonder why these cars have such simplistic sun visors. How about some built-in extensions, or a sliding hinge so the sun can be blocked effectively? Is sun glare not an issue in Munich?

Mainly just that the high power diesel is not in the US. They offer it in Europe, 315hp, although the emissions regulations are probably why. Other than that, their regulations are generally much stricter than ours.

Drove my 435i for 2 weeks in Europe, now waiting for it to come stateside. And tooling around in my 2006 325i in the meantime. Overall, I love love love the 435i. But there are a few downsides, which I see less as flaws and more like reasonable compromises which all designers have to make in designing a complex product. To wit:
- iDrive: it's complex and not very easy to master. (On the other hand, it controls and enables a huge number of functions, from sport displays to all sorts of personal preference settings not previously available.) - Steering: Yes it is very light, and offers less feedback than my 325i, but I don't think that it is entirely devoid of feedback. Also it feels almost eerily accurate, and the lightness lets you go up switchbacks on, say, Switzerland's Simplon Pass much more easily and enjoyably than my current beemer. - The exhaust: it sounds awesome at full throttle, but when you ease up a bit it sounds like it just shuts off. On the other hand, it would probably get tiresome to hear all the time on a long drive. - Auto-stop sometimes fools me into thinking the car is off if I pull over and then decide to park instead of continuing. Also if you open the car at a tollbooth, the car does shut off. But on the flip side, I do appreciate the contribution it makes to better mileage. - The wind noise bugged me for a couple minutes then I stopped noticing it. The door lock on the center stack annoys me as it does on all beemers. And the door pull is a bit far. But my car had no rattles, vibrations or similar problems. As I said, overall I am very happy - primarily with how the car drives - and look forward to doing so for many years to come. |

Guess I'll chime in a little..
The GC is a bit of a pain to get in/out of...my big feet keep rubbing either the door pocket or the sill. Hate that. You do have to push yourself out and up to get out of it. The reverse lockout feature when you open your door. Sucks. I always back into my spot at work..(yes, I have a cam but I like to SEE everything first hand). So I go into reverse..open door to watch the marks in the concrete where I know I'm 'good'..and it goes into 'park'. Ugh. I think theres a way of doing it that tricks it..since it's worked a few times..I just wasn't paying attention as to what I did. I'll figure it out or have it coded out/off. Im used to doing that..backing boats down launch ramps, etc. I'm sure some other minor quibbles will come up..but that's all that comes to mind.

Don't drive a 3/4 but have been in multiple ones multiple times.
That damn thing to the left of the steering wheel, below the light buttons and the buttons if you have the HUD and Lane tracking and stuff. That stupid little "pocket" to put small items in. Why is the cover/handle/whatever for that soooo cheap? It has such a terrible feeling to it. My brother's 2013 VW Passat base has the same thing, but feels almost 100x nicer than the one in the 3/4. And also that weird section of plastic between the cupholder area and the air conditioning controls, really weird. Looks like it should open but it doesn't. |
