You do not do this. After the dealer programs ECU putting new firmware on it, it will have a newer CAFD on it. You do not want to be injecting Net Coding Data (.ncd) from old CAFD into new CAFD because they are different, and you may end up with incompatible FDL settings.

I have seen this before, and it is a corrupted CAFD.

Connect to your car, read FA, activate FA, then highlight the HU_CIC module itself, not the underlying CAFD, and right-click on the ECU and select CODE (not FDL Code).

Then read HU_CIC, and see if the error is gone.
I have a simular issue with the HU_CIC module. Whenever I click coding the following error is appearing:

VCM Update: Write FA to backup. [C189]
VCM Update: finished with error. [C196]
Error in VCM Update:
Write FA to the Backup Partner failed. Possibly there is no connection to the Backup Partner. [C097]

Did you modify your FA (VO)?

Maybe, and maybe not. Too many variables to predict. I only know what it took for me to get it working in my 2011 F10:

Quote:
Change your VO as follows:

- 612 (or 633 or 639 if present)
+ 644
+ 614 (Required but already present)
+ 615
+ 6AL
+ 6AB

VO CODE HU_CIC
VO CODE CMB_MEDIA

FDL CODE CMB_MEDIA:
- TELEMATIK_VIN = Coding_VIN

FDL CODE CMB_MEDIA:
Use modified VO with VIN that has factory options 614 and 615 as explained in my earlier Post

*** Use only to FDL Code CMB_MEDIA; DO NOT write this FA to the Car

1) Enable Data Transfer Option Under Phone
2) Enable Bluetooth Data Tethering on Phone
3) Under Connected drive; Update services (should show BMW Live and Internet services)
4) Go to BMW Live and Internet and make sure it it working

After it is working:
Use original VO with car VIN:
FDL CODE CMB_MEDIA:
- TELEMATIK_VIN = MOST_VIN

Read CMB_MEDIA and verify Short VIN in brackets [xxxxxxx] is car VIN.

DO NOT update services again or you will loose BMW Live and Internet.

*** If you do not return the Combox VIN to car VIN, you will encounter problems with future dealer programming, as the Combox will not be recognized, and programming will hault.
Of course I undid all the coding 2 days later and went back to BMW Assist as Internet / BMW Live is absolutely worthless, but I digress...

If you can VO Code it with factory FA and not modified FA, it would indicate the FA change is not valid.

If you can't VO Code it with either FA, then it is something else.

Hey guys. Took my car in and I think the files updated. I can't go back and recode what I had. I'm getting the following two errors when running esys 3.23.4

Can anyone help? What files do I need to be updating/where do I download it?

ok i found another post on here that has the same error, and it's recommended that I use the "Detect CAF for SWE" functionality to fix the corrupt CAF file...can someone give me a little bit more guidance before / after that step? I'm a little confused here...

That's what I was thinking too, but also with the original VO I get the same error. All steps are proceeding fine, but the Backup step fails with coding HU_CIC.

I've also done some coding on KOMBI and CMB_Media and there Coding is finishing successfully. Even creating Backups on VCM pages work fine.

The backup error doesn't influence FDL coding. FDL coding is proceeding fine and change settings become effective.

Is it possible to exclude Backup step from Coding procedure?

Go to E-Sys options, and uncheck Update VCM and Update MSM boxes, and then try VO Coding it.

You should have:

v.51.3_PSdZData_Lite.part1.rar
v.51.3_PSdZData_Lite.part2.rar

First experience. Please, help

Bought cable, loaded ESys, data, bought patched token solution.
First connection windows 7:

1. Disabled WIFI connection
2. Stopped antivirus (Avira)
3. Connected enet
4. Connected OBD II
5. Local network connection rolling, then yelow triangle

Starting by instruction with ESys. Here what I see:

1. ZGW Search
Blank

2. E-Sys 3.24.3

Connect -
F020
Connect via VIN is gray, so connecting via ateway URL
- connected

3. Expert Mode/Coding/Read

Read FA failed! Possibly there is no FA stored in the VCM. [C060]
negative response error:
code: the result contains an error

EDIABAS does not matter. E-Sys doesn't even use it.

You must Connect via VIN, so forget about your error with Connect via Gateway URL.

Make sure:

1) Car has adequate voltage (motor running).
2) Windows Firewall is disabled
3) All Antivirus Programs are disabled
4) Lan Adapter has a 169.254.xxx.xxx IP Address.
