I plan to redo mine today too.

So did everyone literally use all those set screws into the bottom part of the carbon splitters too? The ones you must drill all those holes into.

I did, but I did like doing it. So many holes! However, its nice knowing my carbon splitters can be yanked off anymore.

Create a slit WHERE? For what?

And I just ordered two new covers which I pick up today. I have no clue how to use that templet on those to make sure they fit cleanly.

For now, my holes in "K" are not secure. Its not moving, but I too would like to figure this out.

Just adding some set screws isnt how its done. I want it done right.
It gets dark at 5 here so I will likely tackle this on Saturday or maybe later of it's too cold out. If you are dong this over, please do take pictures. It will help us out a lot.

Thanks.

The problem is, we both still do not have CLEAR instructions on those two items you posted. So until someone answers that, we wont be much help to others.

PS: I called two dealerships looking for help. BOTH, repeat BOTH said, they are just as lost as us and that this lip.

Great.

You make a hole where the recess holes are and screw goes in and the retainer go on the inside of the bumper cover just from the access to the bumper from the wheel well covers.
That will make sure the screw bites with the retainer and not just the soft plastic bumper cover.
What about the slit described above? Why is there a slit needed on the splitter? It's a finished part and I don't think that's correct.

How the hell do you get your hand way inside there? Because I tired and there is no way to get your hand where those recessed bolts are man.

You just rattling off do this or that, or this goes here or there without a diagram, video, or picture showing us exactly what to do. And did you even use those plastic bars with clips? No, you said you used a set screw instead. If it was so easy to do, why cut corners? And you didnt even install your lip correctly by your OWN words!

SO you COME on!

So when I take this off, am I going to have a million holes in my bumper? I wonder if the dealer will take exception to this on lease return.

I think is letter #N relate to installation of the Splitter kit.
The screw goes in thru the lip and deflector to hold all together.

So we make a slit somewhere for a c lip. Then we use a bolt. Not sure what bolt, as the box came with a lot. But we use a bolt. All the parts have numbers on them, but zero reference to what goes where. But we choose a bolt.

You and the guy who made this install sheet must be related.

Yup. they dont look under there. But BMW is now using third party company for lease returns so keep that in mind.

I have like 6 holes going THRU my carbon slippers PER SIDE. Thats right through the carbon splitter cover and the bumper its covering.

Then I have two more holes at the bottom of the front fenders edge where the lip starts.

And I have two more holes in the middle of the front bumper for the middle part of the M lip to be held in place.

So I think there are 18 holes drilled in my bumper.

Can I ask a question about the splitter part? I just got my shipment from BMW. The splitters only came with adhesive tape, no Betalink.

Is this ok or do I need to order the Betalink?

It is fine to only use the 3m tape that comes with the parts.

That's not 3m double sided tape. That's black felt tape for the edge that meets the top edge of the bumper and carbon. If you have a white car you'd see a slim white line there. Using that tale makes it look matching black.

Thanks

I think you have the deflector on the wrong side
Are you matching the holes. There is two that need to line up.
Once those line up you only cut the indented part of the template. leaving that part that is about 5 inches long.on the right side of the template.
So you will split the rubber in about the point I am talking about(indented) and start cutting about 1/2 inch deep towards the left side taking the soft rubber and about 1/2of the hard plastic with the soft rubber.

Now what are you taking about here. The carbon splitter overlay part has double sided 3M tape to stick to the bumper cover also has a little tab with hole to secure it to the Lip Spoiler and the deflector cover with a screw.. I did not have any felt tape in my overlay carbon piece that goes together with the lip.

Mine came with felt tape ONLY. It goes across the bumper where the splitter touches the plastic grill like mesh.

Mine also had foam tape pre installed on the inside to hold, protect, or do whatever it does.

They add a thick foam tape on the backside of the splitters now. Did yours have foam on the backside? If not, then they revised the install.
