The wheel arches on this car call for beefier wheels than 18". So though 19"+ wheels may look ridiculous on a 135i because its stance is not as muscular, 19" wheels look outstanding on a 1M. I would say it's the other way around, anything smaller than 19" wouldn't do those fenders any justice. |

Am I the only person in the world that thinks a bit of sidewall makes the car better looking?
There is no rubber on those wheels, look at them, they look so wrong on the car. Those wheels belong on a Camaro or something like that, not a 1 series Quote:
Also, I noticed something while selecting a picture to prove my tire point. I went my hunch and digitally enhanced the photo by selecting the DNS and going through the boot menu into the Linux MAC security subroutine of the camera. This let me enlarge the photo through osmosis and photosynthesis and the results clearly show the culprit (bad CSI pun) OP Your front tire is on backwards Probing further into the mystery.... Your rear tire on that side is also on backwards I cant see the tread on the other side of the car though...but my guess is that someone put your left side asymmetrics on the right and the right on the left. Need better photos of the other side to confirm. Im assuming that you have Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas. They look like that anyway. This is how theyre supposed to go for a tire on the left side of the car, See how the asymmetrical tread takes water from the inside of the wheel and ejects it outside? Your wheels are on backwards man, the water is going towards the center of your car. This will lead to instabilities and possible local hydroplaning in the rear as more water is being forced onto your rear tires by the water not properly being ejected from the front. In all seriousness youre dry handling is going to be crap, and your wet handling may become deadly if you dont fix it. Considering especially that Vredesteins arent know for their outstanding breaking ability to begin with. You better fix your tire OP, or you may end up backwards into a ditch :Puts on sunglasses: Last edited by BrokenVert; 01-30-2012 at 03:42 PM.. |

Not a big fan of 20's on a 1 series but it still looks pretty badass. Props for being different!

Looks kind of silly on the 1M. And what's the point of having a 1M if you're not going to put track wheels/tires on it??

Don't mind all the negative comments, you can't make everyone happy. Some people will like it, some won't, plain and simple. I was very skeptical when reading the title but after seeing it, I kind of like it. Plus, having experience with wide sized 19's with past cars, the 20" tires are "significantly" cheaper.
The only thing I wouldn't like about running 20" wheels would be the space between the caliper and wheel that you have now. There will be a significant gap unless you go to a BBK. For a road car, looks great...... As far as the track wheels and taking it to the track comments, tracks aren't for everyone. In fact I would say much less than 0.1% actually even go "participate" in track days. The 1m would definitely be a fun track car, but you aren't going to break any track records with it. |

Seen the car in person a few times and it looks absolutely awesome. The only thing I don't like about the wheels is how much of the light colored inner rim is exposed. The stance is great and it has amazing presence. I love the concavity on the rears.

The car has more grip while turning in one direction than it does while turning in the other. It must make left right transitions really interesting |

19s is the perfect size for this car. 20 feels too big. The concave is REALLY great but the rim design is lacking for a sleek car like the 1m
