Girls driving sporty cars that has an Automatic transmission is a big turn off.
When a girl can drive stick shift...and actually does drive a stick shift...<========3 = me happy. If not...I assume all girls who drive SMG M3's don't know how to drive stick...and would not be able to drive cars like M3 if it didn't come in automatic.:bs:

Um, no. Maybe 90% of the people who responded to the poll can drive a car with manual transmission - you're assuming that responses have come equally from both camps, which I doubt, unless you have 100% response rate ;-) Where does the general US obsession with auto come from anyway? Please don't tell me it is to do with having to drive long distances, because that's what sticking it in top is for! How many of you manual shifters match the revs on a down-shift? How manny of you could confidently shift without using the clutch at all....?

Do you also not trust your tires to hold air? Both are designed to do a job and each work fine.

Seeing as how this isn't a scientific poll I think we're assuming there's a 100% responce rate.

USA 80/20 automatics.
Europe-Asia 80/20 manual. While in Bangkok, I'm always surprised how many taxi's are stick. The traffic in that city is the most congested in the world. |

because americans are fucking lazy and want to be pampered and spoiled as much as is humanly possible so we can focus on our trivial 9-5 fueling of a society that has no concern for why its doing what its doing, just to do what it takes to make you "successful" and support the myth that things shouldnt get old and all things should be easy.
EDIT --> and because we buy all our damn kids new automatic bmw's rather than 15 year old hondas with a manual and blown speakers! that shit builds character people! |

sorry. there's absolutely nothing wrong with driving an automatic. it's just that i feel such a tendency in the american public is reflective of the lacking of certain nontrivial core values.

I can't drive an automatic!....well it's not that i can't but that i feel out of control driving an automatic. I've only driven one for maybe a few miles and it felt wrong not been able to engine brake or having to "floor it" to change down and the lag you seem to get. I don't want a car that decides what gear i should be in, it takes the pleasure out of driving, a bit like cruise control!
To me the only reason for getting an automatic is if you very rarely get out of the city, and if you very rarely get out of the city (like every 6 months) what's the point in getting a 1er? For people who can't drive a manual, it's really not that difficult to learn. Once you've gotten use to it you'll have a much more fun driving experience. (automatic 1er owners flame suit on!) |

The downside is that if you get too used to driving a car with this feature, you're in for a rude surprise the next time you try to drive a car without it.

Doesnt seem safe but its not that bad. I forgot It happened to me once, I had a motorcycle accident and broke shoulder. I was still forced to drive my car. It wasnt fun at all...Took my friends Porsche 996 for a spin before he put it in storage the winter. At least puting the key on was easier than in my car:wink:.

Sorry, it has sort of been engrained in me to never take my hand off the cyclic, so for some reason I drive like that now. I can see it, working but maybe the responsible thing to do would be to get an auto I understand the broken shoulder thing.
