Totally agree with this one, you really need that cold air directly on you when you live in Arizona and its 118 degrees out!

Agreed, but I still have to walk back to the car to check. Of course, a beeping horn would simply add to our ambient noise pollution without fixing my problem which seems to be CRS.

And my '07 3 series has a neat little moving marker along the circumference of the speedo indicating both that cruise control is engaged and what the set speed is. Seems like that could have been easily implemented on our 1ers.

There's an easy fix for that... but we shouldn't have to fix anything!

the 2nd cup holder is horribly positioned and has a pretty wonky shape too... and if you use the first cup holder, then it's in the way of the shifter

I believe on all new BMWs it's now an optional, no-cost, "smokers" package. I can understand that, but just remove the ashtray and the heating element... a 12V source in that location is still very convenient.

I have to hold the button the entire time that the top is in motion. Why can it not be a fire and forget type deal?

holding down the dtc button for 5 full seconds to get traction control off completely is also pretty annoying. not trying to be a jerk or anything, i'm serious. why can't you just "double click" or something like that? i always press it first thing when i get into my car, my gf just sits there rolling her eyes every time with this routine

Funny. I was going to say the side mirrors are too small. I feel like the field of vision is too narrow.

Geeze... all these nits to pick! I love my 135. It is the most incredible daily driver I have ever owned. Yes, I have experienced about 75% of the problems outlined in this thread, but up to now, I have managed to adapt to, or at least overlook most of them.

For example, here is how I deal with my pet peeves:

Problem: Impossible to see the intermittent wiper switch.
Solution: If the wipers are not coming on when I think they should, I hit the switch again. This quickly tells me if it was on or off and what to do next.

Problem: Tall drink containers block the shift lever in my non-I-drive car.
Solution: Do not put tall drink containers in the first cup holder.

Problem: Door pull handle is too far forward.
Solution: Use the door pocked as a pull handle. It is a little low, but it works.

Problem: Small glove box.
Solution: Put some stuff in a small box in the trunk.

So you see, I had adapted to these and many more nits. Now I wish I had never read this thread. It will take me weeks to stop thinking about this stuff.

^its kinda like that episode of how I met your mother. You just hear breaking glass all around you.

And just because we complain doesnt mean that we haven't adapted.

I LOVE the recirculate button on the steering wheel - probably because I drive through a long tunnel (Boston's Big Dig) twice a day.

Test drove a GTI a few years back. My wife commented that at least the cup holders weren't little flimsy trays that ejected from the dash (we had just driven the 3-series). The salesman said something along the lines of "The Germans don't think of a car as a place to have breakfast."

I still love that line.

I have one more. Surprise surprise

Why are there no pockets for maps and papers on the back of the seats? Id love that instead of the ugly hard plastic thing.

And I need a place to store my maps!

+1. I'm forever finding myself stuck behind smoking diesels in rush hour traffic.

I really don't like relying on tech more than I need to. I always keep paper maps in the car as a backup.

Also maps are just more fun.

I agree wholeheartedly. And the sunroof isn't a big enough opening for me to take a sight with my sextant either.

Hey the military agrees with me.

every clear night on every Navy warship a man walks outside with a star map and a sextant for fear that the computers will fail and take them off course.
