After updating to iOS 16, my iPhone will not establish CarPlay with the unit no matter what I do. I've tested with two iPhones (13 Mini and 13 Pro) that previously worked with this unit, and neither wants to work with CarPlay (Bluetooth pairs, but the CarPlay prompt never appears on the phone, and the device never shows up under CarPlay on the unit).
Anyone else experience this? |

Is the "HK hack" mentioned in this thread just mean using the OEM bluetooth for phone/music while using the carplay/aa UI? Spent quite a while searching this thread and didn't find a clear answer
If so, is there a trick to getting this to work more permanently? For me it seems to work for some time then ultimately I have to re-pair everything or switch back to AUX. |

Just installed what was advertised as a RoadTop MMI box for my 2019 F36 so I could get Android Auto.
Everything is working great when it is connected via USB and I've gotten it to continue working when USB is then disconnected, but it will not connect to my phone wirelessly for AA without being wired first. It connects fine to the bluetooth, but doesn't seem to want to connect to the MMI wifi for wireless AA. Any thoughts? I'd really like to not use the wire. Here is the info I have: SDK Version: 25.0.0.7.0.0.2.0 CUST Version: ER169R1 MCU Version: 22.5.14.118 HW Version: B_E_G

Thanks. If you are using AUX, what is accomplished by setting the OEM BT to music/phone rather than just phone? Music through the OEM BT sounds better to my ears which I assumed was due to a low quality DAC in the MMI.
My main issue is the "Use OEM bluetooth for calls" setting in the MMI seems to stop working intermittently. I lose call/siri audio without being on AUX unless I start a call and switch audio output from "CarPlay" to "BMW ####" in the phone itself. Last edited by yer-eye-uh; 10-13-2022 at 10:09 AM.. |

Your Audio Source has to be set to "Aux". For Siri & Calls the trick is following:
1. Siri works, if you trigger it via the iDrive Controller (just press & hold while MMI CarPlay is open). With the "HK Hack" Siri via steering does not work for me. 2. Obviously the iPhone is switching call-audio to the device you are using for the call. Therefore DO NOT initiate/answer calls via CarPlay MMI. You have to do this via the BMW System. |

I always use the steering wheel controls to answer/initiate calls/siri. OEM behavior generally works (long press=siri, short press=BMW voice). But that's a good idea, thanks. It's possible that I answered via the UI (steering wheel dial instead of phone button) without realizing and it switched the phone over to carplay instead of BT. I would consider that a bug in the MMI though I may be missing something because I'm still not clear on what the "hack" is since "use OEM BT for calls" is a feature of the MMI |

As a tip, increase the bitrate transfer from your phone to the highest level. From within whatever music app you are using, go to settings and change it. This also really makes a difference in sound. |

Hey everyone,
I've got an Andream NBT EVO B-version Box on my F32 running android auto with the E_1.6.9R2 firmware. Been having a weird situation lately, which was prior to installing my current firmware. From time to time the phone stops automatically pairing with the box. I found out that the reason for this was because the wifi and bluetooth of the box changed the name and I had to pair everything again. You can seem from the screenshot bellow that it has, in 3 days, assumed 3 different bluetooth names, all of which start with EW-CP8. Since this happened only from time to time, I paid little attention to it. But this has been becoming ever more frequent and I don't know why. Does anyone know why this keeps happening ? |
