I'm hoping for an a9R, with pixel-density close to the a7R III. Given the unique structure of the a9's sensor, that might be a long shot; however, I'd guess that they want to implement that across their lineup and are working on a higher density sensor. Anyway, with the high pixel density, you can happily work with the bare lens and the 1.4x. Given the speed and silence of the a9, the a7R III does seem clunky, with the mechanical shutter and slower fps. For anything moving, you can't use silent shutter on the a7R III, without risking distortion. OTOH, the a9 operates in silent mode, with no distortion, with both compressed and uncompressed RAW files.

Ed, I'm JEALOUS of your angry kite shot. Simply STUNNING. OMG and you used the R10!!!!
I've recommended the R10 to my business partner and sold it by showing him your shots.

Thanks Dave. I find myself leaving the Canon gear at home these days unless it is a dedicated photo trip. As long as I can get reasonably close and there is good light, the RX is an amazing camera that doesn't make my shoulder hurt after holding it all day.

Ed, great pintail burst.
Here's a big 8x10 white-tail buck that presented himself to me this evening, right after sunset: Big Buck In Cattails by David Stephens, on Flickr I'm using the Canon EF 500/f4 II, with the EF 1.4x TC-III, on the Sony a9, with a Metabones EF-to-E t-adapter MkV. Note, this is ISO 10,000. Both my Sony bodies are super at high-ISOs.

I had all my big Canon gear with me, but my best shots lately are all coming from this amazing little Sony. I see an A9 in my future eventually, but financially, I will probably be waiting until the next generation.

We made an unplanned evening stop to Niagara last weekend. Unfortunately, I only had my cell phone with me. I see a return trip with something that gathers light better in my future.

Ed, love Stealth Bomber. That little Sony continues to amaze. I think my business partner will buy one soon. I may be next.

New guy here. I've had an account for awhile, but never got on or posted until a few days ago. There's some great pictures in this thread from everyone! Looking forward to hanging out here in the photography section a bit!
I'll end with a picture I took awhile back in Los Angeles. In the foreground is Hollywood and in the background is downtown LA.

Reflections After Sunset
Calm Reservoir At Sunset by David Stephens, on Flickr Got a new lens, the FE 12-24mm f/4 G. I'll be retiring my Canon EF 14mm f/2.8L II, if anyone is interested. This was last night. There's ice at this spot this morning.

Here's another one from my Winter Solstice (almost) Sunset attempts.
This is a 5 shot HDR (-2 stops to +2 stops) processed in Photomatix Pro and finished in Photoshop. Oh . . . and perhaps I should mention the little bit of fantasy The light was decommissioned a few years ago and it always looked so good when you could capture the light as well. So I thought I'd try this
