Finally got my new 6wb from Latvia. Customs had it for a week due to a lack of an item description from the seller or some b.s. Then FedEx refused to deliver it because they couldn’t figure out my building’s buzzer system (UPS/USPS never has issues), so I had to drive an hour to go pick it up. And then the cherry on top was that one of the nuts that the two cluster screws go into dislodged itself during the install and fell behind the cluster all the way down somewhere behind the driver footwell so I’m sure that will remain hidden forever and randomly rattle when I least expect it. Good times. Honestly it was worth all the stress because I adore how it looks. kubax86 will be coding it for me later today.

i lost the little c-bracket that the screw goes into, it came out without me noticing and it was on the edge of falling into the same pit your screw fell into. luckily i spotted it and got it with my magnetic extension.

are you gonna code in the compass on 6wb? it's what i default the little bottom section to, instead of the trip/odometer.

Yes that was the same part I lost, that bracket. Ordered a new one, with shipping it’s like $10 even though the part is like $2

After the real coding was done I went into bimmercode to fiddle with it more but didn’t see a compas option. Is it in expert mode?

yep, it's the only real "hidden" feature of 6wb that doesnt come with 6WB by default.

kompass_graph_enable --> aktiv

then just use your BC button to scroll through the bottom screens. i just like it cause it's animated lol.

Thanks!

Any idea if it’s possible to get an M Performance logo at start up like it was with the 6wa? I coded it but it just says M550d on the cluster now, the start logo didn’t change as far as I can tell.

don't think you can, it was a big disappointment for me coming from 6WA coding and all the various options you had there. i could be wrong, but from reading the whole 6wb coding thread, there was nothing there except for the compass.

i'm still upset about the right gauge being blank and not displaying the gear I'm in, when in Sport mode. i was hoping coding could fix that and there was an option to display gear, but nope. 6MT guys got screwed big time there. Like I paid $1100 for a digital gauge cluster, thanks for the huge waste of blank space BMW, really giving me money's worth there...

Yeah the 6WB isn't a huge upgrade. It's nice having a digital speedometer and the cluster not changing colors to amber at night when in sport/+ mode (and showing navigation directions if you don't have HUD or prefer it showing in the cluster) but aside from that it's just a 6WA in digital form. The G series digital cluster is a lot better. The M Performance logo not showing properly on startup is probably a software bug that BMW never cared to fix in later revisions unfortunately.

i still think it’s a good purchase and all, i wouldn’t not buy it just because it didn’t seize its full potential as a digital cluster. it’s still very nice eye candy to look at.

Very nice! Try removing the driver side footwell panel (a couple screws if I recall correctly) and the lost nut may be sitting there. I dropped a screw in the same general area and when I was swapping out the driver side footwell ambient light the screw fell to the floor when that panel was removed. You probably don't even have to disconnect the footwell light module.

Very true. I still wouldn't go back to a 6WA lol. It does make the dash look more modern.

That looks great! I really like how the 6WB looks. When digital displays first came out, I wasn't sold on them. Now that they are quite common and having one in our X6, I want one for my F36. How long did it take you (and any of you others toxik eff32fl to install? The install video I watched makes it look easy to do.

Takes 5 min tops to physically install, easiest mod ever. Just need to know how to code it or recruit a coder.

When you remove the footwell panel by removing the 2 10mm or 11mm bolts and pulling down, that clamp will be staring at you...how do I know? Same issue as I yourself, replacement cluster....

Thought i had bricked headhunt after Bimmercode crapped out on me and the headunit wouldn't power up. Managed to get everything working with ISTA which was a massive relief.

Cracked front lip while parking….curb + freezing temps was not good for the polypropylene. Took it off, probably will consider replacing after winter.

I had a scare like that once due to a dropped connection. Switched to a physical connection (enet cable + phone adapter) and no problems since. Also it reads the ecu’s and codes MUCH faster.

Solution A: only back into parking spaces

Solution B: get a front camera installed
