I had a N54 so maybe it's not fuse 83 for a N55 car?

Turn car off and sit in it for about half an hour then using a multimeter check which fuses remain active.

EB89, how'd you go with the fuses in the end, any luck? My kit arrived today, planning on install for the weekend however not looking forward to no power and battery warnings!

Hey Mate,

I got it working, my issue was I had the fuse in the wrong slot on the fuse tap adaptor.

It has two slots, one is for the fuse thats already in the car, and the other is for what you connect to the wire that comes off it eg the camera

The above fuse locations work fine.

Thanks mate - all wired in to the cigarette lighter for now.
I've got all the fuse taps and power magic pro unit wired up, ready to go. Seem to have some phobia of just plugging it in to the fuses in fear something will go wrong or fry something! I'll bite the bullet tonight and install.

Thats what fuses are for

I went to an electronics store and they recommended using 2AMP fuses for both fuse taps, and obviously pull the factor fuse out of its spot and plug it into the fuse tap.

No dice! No power with ignition on or off. Think it's the way I'm connecting to Fuse 83. Perhaps the add-a-fuse isn't required?

Images below. Note larger add-a-fuse, no fuse in first position only second in the fuse adapter - however no existing fuse in position 83 hence this method...

Advice...welcome!!!

Fuse amperage

What add a circuit did you use? The one I ordered says to only go up to 10amp fuses and the cig lighter fuse is 20. I assume you guys are using a 20 amp add a circuit kit?

Does anyone know how to decode which fuses are power on ignition only versus constant on?

I have the same setup and mine does the same too at times. I admit that I don't drive the car much and for short trips, 10-20 mins a day drive. But it completely drains the battery after 2-3 days. I have to always keep a battery jumpstart kit in the car to avoid it. Any advice? I don't think it's any other device if I turn off the cam, my car can go weeks without starting up and it'll still start up fine.

Same here. I just unplug the dashcam if I dont drive it for more than a couple of days. I get a hidden code that the Carly app shows but nothing on the dash.

Thanks for that tip. I'm not that knowledgeable in the fuse area and bmw with its symbols I had somehow used add a fuse on #16 which is probably a bad idea. Been running like that for a long time.

Tomorrow I'm changing to #8. I'm planning to install a rear camera and use parking mode on a Vico plus. Is #73 related to door locks?

Not sure if it is related but it worked well in my favor. Only because I'm using the power module which I have the option to turn on/off while car is off.

Old thread, I know...but I would think the best option would be to add a small battery and an isolator. The battery size and rating can be determined by the current consumption rating of the camera. IE, if the camera draws .5 amps max, and you want it to be able to run up to 12 hours, you'd need a (.5x12=6) 6 amp hour battery. The isolator is basically a relay, which separates the camera battery and the car battery when the car is off, but connects them when the car is running to charge them both. This is how I plan on doing mine.

Do You have the fuse number for the locations by any chance?
