clutch problems
Ok, so today I drove about 400 highway miles (sitting in 6th basically the entire time except on ramps) for work and the car was working perfectly. The clutch felt perfectly in sync and everything. When I got back home the car sat for about 2 hours then I went to get dinner. Now, when I put the car into first and start to go, no matter how much gas I give the car, it feels like the car is juttering forward like when you don't give the car enough gas. I am bringing the car in tomorrow, but I was just trying to get some opinions as to what is going on (i.e. clutch failure , etc.)
Any opinion is welcome. Thanks. |

car feels like its juttering forward? or is actually rolling forward? is ur clutch fully engaged or semi? how many miles on the clutch? u drove 400 miles? maybe that got the clutch all fired up n hot so it was acting weird. try it out tomorrow see how it is once the clutch has cooled down.

1) it was juttering forward as if you don't give the clutch enough gas
2) the clutch was fully engaged and it was only acting up in 1st gear 3) the car now has 21xxx 4) yes i drove 400 miles for work purposes yesterday 5) I went to drive to the dealer today and no problems. They still are going to run the car's computer for any mechanical faults. I'm hoping since the problem is not occurring today that my clutch isn't failing. We'll see what they come up with. |

I occasionally get what we used to call "clutch judder" but only when cold and going uphill (pulling out of my driveway). It is remedied by increasing the throttle at or slightly before (not after) the point of clutch engagement. While I usually try to engage the clutch at about 1,200 rpm, 1,500~2,000 seems to solve the problem when cold and going up a significant grade.
I suspect the greater low rpm torque would make this unnecessary on the 135i. Tom |
