2010 E92 328 shutting down

Hi all,

Posting this for a friend of mine. He has a 2010 328. Twice now his car has shut off while driving. The RPM and MPH needle are frozen at the time the car shuts off. He is unable to pop the trunk open to get to the battery and the remote doesn't work either. We are assuming it is the battery but the battery was just replaced. The only way to get to the battery is through the back seat. As soon as he pops the trunk from the back seat the car starts.

He brought the car to the dealership and they could not find anything wrong it. They couldn't get the car to stall.

Any other ideas what might be the cause?

Never mind went back to the dealership and they found a loose engine ground connection. That is what they said.
