BMW SSK issue - need help
I installed the short shift lever from a 335i to my 135i. To my understanding is the same part.
Well, my problem is that I can’t shift to 2,4,6. It grinds and don’t go in. I can try to start in 2nd from standstill but pop the gear. 1,3,5 its all good. When I install the lever put it in the notch facing forward. The lever sits a bit to the right side. Any help is greatly appreciated. |

In my 08 it definitely was not the same part, the 135 required a more intensive install because it had an additional piece attached. I don't remember the specifics, but at least on the 08, it was not interchangeable and cost more than the 335 version.

Hate to bring up a dead horse, but I have run into this same problem.
I can get R, 1, 3, 5 no problem because the bottom of the shifter is away from the bolted connection of the driveline. I can't use 2, 4, or 6 because it just barely scrapes on the bolts of the driveline flange. I tried rotating the shifter 180 to see if it would move it away. No luck. Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution? I've installed and uninstalled this BMW Perf SSK a few times now to see if I did something wrong.. Still no luck. More info---- I only installed the lever #5 and bushing #4, not #7. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...80&hg=25&fg=95 I'm guessing my problem is from not buying/installing #7.... Can anyone confirm this? Last edited by 96ti; 04-27-2013 at 07:15 PM.. |

You installed the SSK lever but not the arm #7 that attaches to the transmission. Its subtle but it allows you to NOT rub the driveshaft in 2,4,6. You need to install it.
