e90 330i wont start
Hey guys, I have an 06 330i, lil less than 90k miles, car wont start. My lights turn on, radio, everything inside. When i push the start button all I hear is a faint humming noise, no crank or anything, for like 10 seconds, any help?

Did you put in the clutch?
Only kidding, I hope it's nothing serious.

How many volts on the battery?
How many volts on the battery?
And how far does that voltage drop when you try to start it? If its never had a new battery its probably due for one. |

Just tried jumping, still no crank. I'm guessing its the starter than, will
http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-20...-x3-x5-z4.aspx work? Its cheaper than tischer, and I'll prolly get an indy to install. |

I Don't wanna pay to get towed to a dealership and back because I have some shops that are real close to me. I've searched around and that seems like the issue, I have started smelling some smell recently and thought I just needed to change the brakes, guess it was the starter

Sounds like a starter.
When you hit the button do you hear any type of "clank" type sound? If so thats the solenoid, but it won't turn over. Make sure the battery is good, but definitely sounds like a starter. |

I hear like a whine noise for 10 seconds from the engine, i mean my headlights autolevel and everything just like if my car was on...except the engines off, lol
On a side note, I'm prolly gonna change my spark plugs and maf since im already at it and my cars nearing 90k, anything else I should change since im in there? |

I had a similar issue a few weeks ago; my e90 330i wouldn't even turn over. I tried to jumpstart off our x5 in the garage and couldn't get success. Called BMW roadside assist and tow guy had no trouble jumping it. Remember to have the assisting car going for a few minutes on high revs before trying to jump.
Took it in for other service this week; verified no issues with starter. |

Yea these cars take a while to jump start. I think the car charges the battery slowly so you won't do any damage to the ecu or battery.

Open your Ebox cover. Find the largest diameter white wire at the side closest
to the firewall. Put your meter lead on the back of the wire at connection. Have a friend start it . If you have 9-12 volts the starter is bad. This is all assuming you have a good battery. |
