BMW want to buy my car

..Received a text

We will buy your within 7 days if it has FBMWSH and under 50K miles.

Is this something they do on a regular basis ?

...and it's not a scam because I have their number stored in my phone

Out of curiosity I think I'll pop down there and see what they offer

Someone I know had a similar thing happen to him, he has an E81 123D fully loaded with every option owned from new and everything done by BMW so they know the car. He said they got in contact with him as a customer wanted his exact (rare) spec and so would he like a great PX deal and a new car. It's a win win for the dealer, guaranteed profitable sale of your current car and they get to sell you a new one by giving you an above average PX I believe.

This is just a marketing tactic to get you in the door to give you the hard sell!

My local garage bought my car off me and I didn't buy another one from them. They just looked at it and gave me a cheque.

Don't you get "special" invites on a regular basis?

They aren't so much interested in your car than selling you one of theirs.
