Delivered M3.. How many miles on it off the truck?
Hello.
I just placed a order for a 2011 M3 Couple, Space gray, black/red leather interior. My first BMW, first M3, first V8, first 2-door vehicle (a bunch of firsts for me). I've been driving a 2002 Subaru WRX for the last 8 years. When I pick this car up at the dealer, how miles should I expect to see on the odometer? Less than 10? I hate to think people at the dealer drove it around, joy riding, before I can to pick it up... I no reason to believe this dealer would do something like that, but I just moved into northern Colorado and I have never dealt with them at any capacity before. I really hope I can receive this car before the Christmas holidays. ;-) |

Hey Bro! Congrats on the order! I too ordered my 2011 Coupe, Space Gray to be exact, back on the 25th of Oct.! Still scheduled for production though. As far as the mileage is concerned, The dealer will not drive it when it comes in. It will sit and wait for you when you pick it up. You can expect around 15mi or less on your car which is about avg I think. I have seen some that has only 4-8miles on them...

Had 5 miles at the dealer, but I live in Puerto Rico so it was driven a bit more. I'm pretty sure the car was not test driven at the dealership. over 10 miles is too much IMO

Btw, you should consider the mileage that's added when they transport your car. I know I mentioned earlier the mileage being 8-10 miles. 10 miles may seem like a high number, but consider the car being driven to the ship, unloading the car to the docks (U.S. soil), driving it up the semi that goes to the dealer, and unloading it out of the semi straight to the dealerships parking lot.
Some BMW dealerships do it, some may not, but you should also add the distance that the dealership has to add to the car when they put the car in their storage (Some of these storage are about 1/4 mile away from the dealership). The mileage again adds up when your car gets driven from the storage back to the BMW dealership when you are ready to pick it up. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but IMHO, that's how I see the mileage getting added to the car. |

I'm kinda surprised...since "they" consider the car in production up until it reaches the dealer...they dont reset the odometer.
Reason Im curious about this is...my car was severely damaged by the transport company...has been sitting at VPC for 3 weeks for "replacements"...but yet...BMW insists because the VPC is an extention of the factory...it's still a "new" car.

And sometimes you get the car that was driven at the factory for quality control. Mine came with 24. I freaked out a bit. I posted to this forum. People ranted. I tracked it on the boat and to the dealership. The truth was that that's just how it came. So, don't stress about it. Those miles are peanuts compared to the tens of thousands you're hopefully looking forward to putting on it.
