Duffus Castle and Aurora Borealis
I take lots of Aurora and night pictures and one of my favourite locations for these shots is Duffus Castle, just 3 miles from home. I also shoot aurora pictures at our local West Beach, just a mile from home. The castle provides a much more pictorially pleasing foreground, but the best aurora shots are taken from the beach looking north towards Wick and Orkney.
So here is a shot of Duffus Castle at night and facing north, with an aurora shot taken 2 miles away. Cheating ? No, I don't think so, not if you're open and up front about how the image came about.

Polar bear enjoys a roll in the snow:
Polar Bear Rolling In Snow by David Stephens, on Flickr Here's a link to an Album with my best shots from my trip to Churchill, Canada: https://www.flickr.com/photos/dcstep...h/30802800107/ Most of the shots were taken, handheld, with my Sony a7RIII, my FE 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS and my 2.0x teleconverter. A few were taken with the a9. Focusing was never an issue, so I opted mostly for the higher resolution of the a7.

Not bad for a 1" sensor. Sun falling behind the rim at Crater Lake last week.

Nice to get "explored" on turkey day, and finally a shot that I actually think is worthy. These two youngsters were just having a ball that day as I watched them play.

Not sure if all you guys are super-talented or the equipment you're using makes it look that way. In any case, keep'em coming!

The rain certainly saved Thanksgiving in Northern California. Thanksgiving morning I took the A9 out with a Canon 500 +1.4 mounted using the Sigma MC-11. With the latest firmware update, they seem to have stepped ahead of the Metabones for the time being.

It worked in zone and wide for me, which are what I normally use. I haven't tried adjustable spot lock-on yet. It is still not as fast as my GM 100-400, but it's hard to argue with the image quality. I think it is mainly useful for outdoor use, as by the time you put an adapter and TC on it, it becomes very unwieldy inside a vehicle, even my truck. Still the performance was very acceptable shooting from the viewing platform at the NWR.
