BMW Performance Center Announces the M Driver Training Experience at Lime Rock Park
BIMMERPOST NEWS BMW Performance Center Announces the M Driver Training Experience at Lime Rock Park 14.09.2012 Woodcliff Lake, NJ – September 14, 2012… The BMW Performance Center is offering a BMW Performance Driving School event at the legendary Lime Rock Park, featuring both the BMW M3 Coupe and all-new M5 Sedan. The BMW M Experience program takes place in October for a limited number of lucky participants. “We are very excited to have the opportunity to instruct participants on a famous track like Lime Rock Park”, said Dan Gubitosa, BMW Performance Center Manager. “Each participant will have the opportunity to drive the 414 horsepower M3 Coupe and 560 horsepower M5 Sedan around the 1.5-mile track, located in the picturesque town in Lakeville, Connecticut.” Skip Barber, Lime Rock Park’s President added, “Like our track itself, BMW is a company with a rich racing history. BMW also serves as the Official Car of Lime Rock Park, so training with BMW M vehicles at Lime Rock Park is a natural fit.” The BMW M Driver Training Experience is a one-day program run rain or shine, which begins with basic classroom instruction. Most of the day is then spent driving the M3 and M5 on the track. BMW Performance Driving School programs are conducted year-round at the BMW Performance Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina, but this new event provides the chance for driving enthusiasts local to the tri-state area to participate without long-distance travel. BMW M Driver Training Experience – Information To register for this event, please call the BMW Performance Center at 888-345-4269. Program Dates and hours: Monday 8 October: 8:00-5:00pm Wednesday 10 October: 8:00-5:00pm Tuesday 9 October: 8:00-5:00pm Thursday 11 October: 8:00-5:00pm Lime Rock main entrance: 60 White Hollow Road Lakeville, CT 06039 |

$2500.00 for the day? Where did you acquire this info? I thought this was free to BMW customers. Isn't that how it works in Spartanburg? |

I'm pretty sure its only free in Spartanburg because you just bought a new BMW. It's not free if you just want to go and have a day there.

I see, they're out of their minds. You can spend that for a weekend attending Skip Barber and receive your certificate. I have a F10 M5 on order so maybe I should take shot and see if they'll make an exception because Spartanburg is 12 hours, and Lime Rock is 1 hour. Hmmmm? Thanks for the info though.

Considering the 1 day "M School" is only $1,495, I'd rather take a mini-vacation to Spartansburg.
Or even better for $3,595: Tuition includes two nights lodging and meals for school days, M branded polo, jacket and custom painted M School helmet. All participants must hold a valid driver's license $2,500 for one day...meh. |

It's a shame. Skip offers an HP driving day that I did last year. It was 1500 for the day and we drove 911, m3, cayman, lotus, Lexus. Very minimal time on track. It was a gift so I didn't mind the $$. Still it was a lot. I understand how BMW and skip are thinking but I don't agree. They take the HP day as a base and let performance center make the rest. I understand cost of bringing the cars up, the fuel, the instructor costs , but at some point you scare away customers. This should be 1k for the day and it would be a fun event for all of us to say we did it. How much can you really charge people to drive a car they may already own? I've done lots of stuff with skip and BMW so I am used to this mentality. Just disappointed that I can't do what could be a fun day with friends. Better than being at work but I don't make 2500 a day!!!!! Next month I drive with group 52 at Watkins Glenn in my e92 m3 and my e36 m3 gtr that I am partnered in. Unlimited track time for 550 bucks!!!!!!!! So no comparison. Then oct 21 I go to Nurburgring for driver training, I believe with exchange this will 4k (without flight), so again no comparison. Interested to see attendance. If it is full then I am out of touch and they priced it right.

Yeah it's $2500/day. I was going to do it, but for that price I can do a 2 day M school, or put that to a few days at VIR.
For all of you haters of Lime Rock - yeah that's the Skip Barber Driving school - Hardly a rinky dink track - it's where most folks get experience. |

Expensive. But I booked regardless. Timing and location couldn't be more convenient for me. Hopefully my M6 will have landed by then and it will be a "multi-M" day!
