Mounted Radar Detector Photos
I hardwired my Escort Redline detector and mounted it right below the rear view mirror. I was very happy with the placement, but I would get quite a bit of rattle over bumps, which quickly become annoying.
I moved it above the rear view mirror on the right side (didn't think it would fit but saw a pic of someone who did that and was able to barely squeeze mine in there). It's wedged in there good, so there are no rattles but it's not the easiest to hit the mute button. Anyways, it would be great if you could post pics of your detector mounted. I'm looking for different mounting ideas and would consider a difference detector (V1) if I need to. I'm not looking for a built in one, however your pics are more than welcome. |

Nice, I assume you use the V1 after reading your sig? How does that fit...snug, but still plenty of room to get it in there with the standard suction cup mount?
I've considered ordering a V1 and it looks like pushing the knob to mute will be much easier than squeezing my finger into the space I have on the Redline. |

Wouldn't the tint strip will partly block the signals? Not sure if radar works like light but laser obviously does.

Same spot as mine. I don't use the mute button since the redline has automute. But I have turned off K band. And that got rid of all my false alarms. LEO's in NJ use KA, X or laser AFAIK.

This was actually the picture I found before mounting mine. Thanks for that! I didn't even know it would fit there until I saw that.

I usually mount my V1 at the gradient or lighter part of the tint band in an attempt to have optimal detector performance for both radar and laser.
Here is a test report article from Mike at V1 discussing how the pros and cons of the placing the detector behind the tint band: http://valentineone.com/Lab/TechReport2.asp |
