OEM 162's with 10MM spacers from Rogue Engineering

Installed 10mm spacers on rear wheels with 162's today. My goal was to eliminate the 'tucked in' look only (not to have them bulge out).

This brings the look to where it should have been from stock. Fronts and rears are now the same position within the wheel well.

Top pics are before, middle and bottom are after. It is a subtle difference, but looks good in person.

I have seen the before and after on this car in person. The pictures do not really show the difference well, but is very visible to any BMW guru.

In factory mode, the rear wheels appear to be too far in under the fenders, it looks like the car came with the wrong rim offset and does not match the front offset visually. Personally, I think it looks unmatched, unatractive and boring. It looks like the rear wheel offset was underdeveloped as the rest of the car grew to maturity...know what I mean? Like a gene mutation or something... like the car is misfigured.

With the 10mm spacer it looks perfect like stock from the factory with no mutations. Visually, the front offset is almost identical to rear offset. To give you an idea of how stock this looks, the wife(s) could not tell that a change was made to the car, even after telling them to look at the rear wheels. With the current look, you now want to say something like: "Hmmm, I wonder if a 10mm spacer would give me that nice wide M3 stance look".

This is a must for every e90!!! Actually, I would personally go with the 12mm spacer just to get that minimal "I'm sporty and ready to go" look. With a 15mm, I think one could definitely tell that something got changed.

Hope my descriptions are helpful...

It's not lowered, other than stock sport suspension. As I wrote in the post

I agree that you could go 15 or 20, just wasn't the look I was after.

if you were looking for the wheels to look flush with fender.. 15-20mm would have been better.. i have 15mm on my rear.. and my wheels are 9.5 wide

I don't believe he was going for the flush look if you read his original post. He wanted to have the rears look like (ie. match) what the fronts look like in stock form.

So you had to replace the lug studs as well? If so, they are just pressed in?

In this case, they are bolts (not studs). The kit from RE comes with replacement (longer) bolts.

The whole install took about 5 minutes.

By the way, xtnct was lending a hand (and a floor jack) and noticed when we lifted the rear about 1" off the ground, that the front tire came up too! Amazing how stiff the frame is.

"All of our wheel spacers have a hubcentric lip which helps with the installation of wheels with the spacer in place. "

Have 330 xi with 162 wheels with sport and performance packages. I would like to add 15-20mm spacers on the rear. Will I have any trouble with mounting or rubbing? I'm dumping the run flats for either Goodyear F1's or Michelin PS2's.

Thanks..........
