17s on a 335is?

So after researching part numbers, it looks like the 335is has the same brakes as a regular 335i with sport package. With that being said, I was told by one wheel company that is not BMW experts that I can't put a 17" wheel on my 335is. I haven't heard back from Apex yet, I'm sure they would know. So does anyone know if I can fit a 17" wheel on my 335is? I'm looking to grab a set of 17" Apex Arc 8s.

Rotors and calipers are the same so the fitment should not be an issue.

What width tires are you putting on 17" rims? Those cap out at 245 or 255 unless you're buying competition components.

That's what I'm thinking. Doesn't look like a whole lot of room right now between the caliper and rotor with my 19s but I worry a lot LOL

I'm thinking 17x9 fronts with 17x9.5 rears. Haven't really decided on tire size yet but I'm guessing a 245F and 275R?

You're going to be paying out the ass for high performance 275 tires on 17", IF you can find them in the first place. You need to bump up to 18" rims.

17x9.5 square setup. This car ran 11.8@121 on street tires and stock turbos 4 years ago. These 17s performed better in every way than the stock 18s did.

275/40/17 are easy to find and BFG makes a Sport Comp 2 in that size so that's what I'm going with. $140 a tire is an awesome price.

There are actually much fewer choices in tire size for the 19" style 313s I run now. And they start around $200 a tire. I'm definitely set on 17" wheels as long as they fit, which I'm pretty sure they will.

Are you going to do a extra set of rears with the MT ET's?

Nah, not right now. For now I'll just keep the style 264s I have, the MT ETs on them are new. I think eventually I'll grab an extra set of Apex rears and go Hoosier bias ply slicks on them.

Ah yes, that's right. I've got a F30 M Performance big brake kit going on so I'm going to have to research 17's and see if they'll fit the rear only. I'd love a pair of MT/ET in 275/40-17 for track days.

Yup, Summit has them for $226 a tire. That's $31 less per tire than the 245/40/18s I'm running on the style 264s. I'm sure if you can't fit a 17 over your brakes I could sell you this setup and just go buy the 17" Apexs.

Lol. Deal. I'll meet you in Clayton GA at Wannagofast 1/2 mile in Sept. You should check it out if you're close enough. Good time, fast cars.

I'll probably be there. My buddy went in his M5 last year. He's insisting I go this year.

So I guess the next question is tire profile. 245/45/17 and 275/40/17 are basically the same tire diameter, 25.6" IIRC. I just wonder will the 245/45/17 fit without rubbing and without spacers. The white car above ran 17x9.5F with 255/40/17 but ran 5mm spacers. I'd prefer to not run spacers. I know I could run a 245/40/17 up front but that would give me a .9" difference in diameter between the fronts and rears.

Anyone run a 245/45/17 up front on a 9" wheel?

Does the DTC/DSC on this car adjust for square setups?

To an extent, yes. There is a limit though, I don't remember what it is. That's why I'm trying to keep tire diameter close.

I actually think it's the ABS and not the DSC that become an issue when the tire diameter difference is too large.

I can confirm apex arc8 17s clear. I test fit mine and they cleared the front 360mm, 6pot Sparta bbk with about 1mm of clearance. 9.5's also fit the front, but they're really close to my coils. Haven't mounted the tires yet, so don't know about rubbing/camber issues, but I plan on running a 275 nto5r in the rear.

Thanks!!! Pretty sure I've decided on 245/40/17F 275/40/17R, on 17x9F 17x9.5R
