Volk TE-37s on Order! (Thanks Vivid!)

I'm soon to become another member of the lucky TE-37 owner club. 18x8.5 in the front, 18x9.5 in the back. For me, it was no contest. Let's face it, the most hardcore drivers out here buy their bmw's to be the ultimate driving machine. For me, switching out the wheels for something much lighter was key.

I don't really understand why more bmw owners don't go this route. For people who love their ultimate driving machines, it's an amazing performance upgrade. I've seen all the threads about unsprung weight, so I know some of you guys know exactly what i'm talking about. Sure, some may fear that other lightweight wheels are subject to bending, but when it comes to lightweight wheels, Volks are the top of the line. I suppose i'm darn near advertising for them right now, but words can't express my excitement. I've always wanted these wheels, and now i'm finally getting my chance (well, in 90 days).

Finding them with the BMW bolt pattern was a real pain in my backside. I had countless people tell me that getting them in anything other than the time attack edition was impossible. So a massive thanks needs to go to Rob Rohn at VividRacing. They're a sponsor over here, and Rob Rohn helped me get exactly what I was looking for.

So for those of you who want to add a lot of GO to the show of your wheels, join us on the darkside

As for now, i'm off to start my countdown on my calendar. There's just so much waiting involved with having an e92 335i, but you have to do, what you have to do.

Light rims are only worth their weight if they are forged! Volk monoblock forged rims rock, congrats! +35 front and rear right?

FYI, I'm hoping they come in 90 days, but be prepared if they are a little off of the 90 day mark, worth the wait though! For some reason, some poeple consider putting "JDM" rims on a Euro car is sacrilege and some call it "rice" but to me, it's all about performance!

I can't tell you the finish. It's my big surprise. Hahaha. I'm pretty positive it was +35 front and rear. But don't worry. I'll be sure to take pictures from the second I open the box. As said as it is, i'm almost as excited about the wheels as I am the car. Glad to see there are some wheel lovers out here that know that there's nothing "rice" about Volks.

PS. I just got an email from Rob... seems like he's trying to have a sweeter setup than me! We'll see about that

I originally wanted LE37's, same as TE except for a Diamond Cut lip (polished). I wanted +30 and that took FOREVER so I cancelled that order and went with CE's.

Yea. The wait has been scaring a lot of people away, I think. There are more than a couple guys on here that changed their mind because of it. I started out looking at the LE37s, but didn't want the chance of it not looking perfect (i've wanted the TE's since their release). But, for me, when I thought about how i'd have to wait another month and a half (at best) to get the car anyway, it was a pretty easy choice to make. Although, I must admit that when he said he had the progressive TE's in stock, it took all my willpower to stick with the regular te-37s. There was barely any price difference between the two. It was all a matter of getting what I always wanted.

Are you liking the CE's? Before I got word from Rob that he could make it happen, I was trying to decide between OZ Ultraleggera's and the CEs.

Loving the CE's! Very noticable improvement, made a great car even better!

Awesome! I just noticed you went with Goodyear F1 GSD3's, after doing a little bit of reading, I think thta's what I decided to go with as well. What kind of tread life are you seeing?

This is my second set of F1's. The first set I got over 30K out of them before I sold my rims and tires, great tire for the money! I hope to get the same if not more form this set.

Weight isn't everything - after all, we're talking about a 3500lb sports/luxury car, not a Lotus Elise! However, I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Volks (I've owned two sets) and was going to order the Progressive ME's before I even bought my 335i - but after hearing about 6-8 month waits (I have waited 4+ months before for a set of custom offset SF-Winnings), I decided I'd save some money and get wheels/tires/springs/XEDE for just the price of the MEs/tires...

Congrats on the purchase and hope you enjoy them! (eventually)

Good thing it's not a lotus elise! I almost bought a s2k a year ago, but my legs would NOT comply! A lotus might have made me suicidal!

I thought 6 was a pretty good guess actually. I think 6-8 if memory serves me correct.

We should start a list of people running Volks!

So, do you guys think I should get lug nuts that match the wheel, or lug nuts that match the car? I'm not sure how the contrast would look of blue lugnuts on my wheel, but it might make it look even more unique, and give it that modified "faster" look. What do you guys think?

I would go black Ray's lug bolts, but blue would look hot on silver, that's your color right? Heck I may even try blue for my Arctic...

They are indeed silver. I'm really considering getting the blue ones. I just not sure how crazy it would look, you know? Who DOES that?

Nice choice.
You think about 5mm spacers on the rear? They will probably look fine without though.
Where do I sign up for this Volk club. Hope you don't need 'em installed to join.

Someone else went with 5mm spacers, and I really liked the way it turned out, so i'll definitely be looking into that. And because I made the Volk club up myself, all it requires is that you mention it in your sig. Haha, welcome!

Heh, I'll put it in my sig when I get them actually installed. Long story and long wait (nothing like Danny, but still...), but I have 3 of them in my living room and hopefully the 4th will be arriving soon. I hope...
