I do not have this option in my KSW head unit.
Looks like you are lucky with that. What unit is this? PS. please delete my email address in your last post. Thanks |

What negatives do you find with it? e.g. 1. We can only connect BT mobile phones - We cannot for example connect BT/LE TPMS (actually we can, but they do not function in timely manner) 2. Boot takes half a minute and another few seconds for music and maps to load. 3. BT phone calls do not get routed to USB DAC. Other than that all is ok. I've not had it long and use CWG as launcher to customise it Negatives that annoy me so far are: FM radio app is useless but there's no input for an FM antenna, no Biggie as I use a USB DAB tuner with DAB-Z and I'm overall happy, CCC FM tuner works perfectly if I needed it. My phone doesn't sync as I had hoped with contacts, favourites, etc My workaround is use AA but run it in the background so that if a call comes through it AA pops up and I can see if it's a contact or not calling, same with outgoing calls, I just bring AA back on top and select phone icon I mapped a function on CWG to bring up AA It's not 6GB as stated but 4GB, I'm not bothered as I'm generally very happy with it and it's not laggy at all. I also didn't pay full price as discount codes stacked on eBay Support has been very good even if overnight they reply due to the time difference for me to China Sound quality I'm really surprised and only wanted to use a DAC for Bluetooth calls but no longer needed. Boot up time is fast enough, I've set-up CWG to run DAB-Z 5 secs after boot up, AA auto connects, so probably about same, 30s or to fully boot up and everything running I've not tried anything other than a phone on BT, I do have an OBD reader for torque I can try Last edited by gmangt4; 03-21-2024 at 01:37 PM.. |

Tune-In is very good, but will pester you with annoying ads even if you buy the pro version. Do not get it.
'Car Radio' is the one you want. 28 favorite stations that you can scroll through atm. Next version will allow you to listen to all stations available. Plus, you can add your own stations via an online interface, and the developer is available in discord. Quote:
However this means that the HU loses Wifi to AA. This means that you cannot use Google Assistant (or anything requiring Internet) on the HU unless you use a SIM card, because Internet is being used by AA via WIFI. Correct? |

My favourite radio station is DAB only now grrr I thought I was the only person that didn't like TuneIn lol Yes, I use an EE 12 months pre-paid SIM card from Argos in the device for internet, £50 for 120GB lasting 12 months. Also used a Smarty SIM in it and worked fine |

Simple home made app - Reboot.1.apk
Reboot.1.apk
I have made a small app using tasker for our KSW head units. Just install the apk file and run it. The purpose of this app is to reboot the unit. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. download file Reboot.1.apk.pdf 2. remove .pdf extension 3. install on your head unit If you need to modify the code you can do so too. I am attaching the xml files which you can import into tasker and play around. It is only a single task anyway. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. download file Reboot.tsk.xml.txt 2. remove .txt extension 3. import task into tasker Last edited by conandrum; 03-22-2024 at 07:55 PM.. |

Simple home made app - BT_Music_KSW.1.apk
BT_Music_KSW.1.apk
I have made a small app using tasker for our KSW head units. Just install the apk file and run it. The purpose of this app is to show you the music playback screen which is part of the KSW BT app. Many of us have disabled the BT capability of our head units and are using the OEM phone call facility. However this does not mean that we cannot play music from our phone via BT through the head unit. Even though we cannot control the playback (play/pause etc) anymore using this screen, it is still useful to see what is playing! INSTRUCTIONS: 1. download file BT_Music_KSW.1.apk.pdf 2. remove .pdf extension 3. install on your head unit CAVEAT: Our HU will actively try to close BT for the first 5 minutes after a boot. This may have something to do with the fact that this app will automatically close for the first 5 minutes after a boot. I have tested and found out that keeping BT ON does not affect this strange behaviour, so we cannot make things any better. So 5 minutes after a boot, it will remain on-screen and become useful. If you need to modify the code you can do so too. I am attaching the xml files which you can import into tasker and play around. It is only a single task anyway. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. download file BT_Music_KSW.tsk.xml.txt 2. remove .txt extension 3. import task into tasker Last edited by conandrum; 03-23-2024 at 07:40 PM.. |

Not so simple tasker project - Poweramp.prj.xml
Poweramp.prj.xml
I have made a small project using tasker for our KSW head units. The purpose of this tasker project is to help other projects/tasks with Poweramp playback of tracks & playlists and to specify shuffling modes. I am attaching the xml file which you can import into tasker and play around. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. download file Poweramp.prj.xml.txt 2. remove .txt extension 3. import project into tasker Additional Info You will notice that there are 2 ways of triggering playlist playback. 1. by playlist id 2. by name search The former type, point to my 1st, 2nd and 3rd playlists (e.g. Poweramp Playlist 1) which always correspond to known playlists e.g. 'the latest dance music', or 'the latest R&B music'. Their content may change from year to year, but they are always 'the latest blah blah'. Their names may change a bit, but I can safely target them by number because they are always synced by MediaMonkey, first. The latter, are targeted by name because I have no idea what id they were assigned, and I do not want to know (hundreds of playlists). You will also notice that these tasks have weird names: e.g. Poweramp Playlist 19.8.0s The reason is because I want to run these with Google Assistant Routines. Google Assistant will otherwise refuse to execute a Tasker task which contains a year (e.g. a routine containing 'run Poweramp Playlist 1980s in tasker' will ask me when I would like to be reminded... Whaaat! LOL)! The thinking behind this is that I wanted to say this to the assistant: 'Hey Google, play nineteen eighties' and my 1980's playlist would play. And this is exacly what happens with these tasks. See screenshot of some routines below. I have set up a total of 14 routines specifically for decade playlists from 1970s to 2020s plus a few single years from 2020 to 2024. Of course playing a playlist needs shuffling... cause I do not like listening to the same song sequence every time. So that is also done automatically here. Google Assistant Routines (additional): 1. 'Reboot' routine using the reboot task I posted earlier. 2. 'Android Auto' routine which launches ZLINK5 3. 'Split' routine which splits the screen with Poweramp and Google maps. I will post this below. I must say this one was quite difficult to fine tune. Last edited by conandrum; 03-22-2024 at 07:21 PM.. |

Not so simple tasker project - Split_Screen.prj.xml
Split_Screen.prj.xml
I have made a small project using tasker for our KSW head units. The purpose of this tasker project is to split the screen between Poweramp and Google maps as soon as the device boots. Splitting takes about 5 seconds because in Android 13 it has to be done manually ie. tasker has to emulate a human being touching the screen. The goal is not to break any speed records; the goal is reliable performance every time. You see, at boot time, the head unit is under much stress, with CPU utilization in the high 90s for the first minute. This can easily topple these flimsy manual tasks. Thankfully after hundreds of tests I feel it is steady enough to be used reliably. I am attaching the xml file which you can import into tasker and play around. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. download file Split_Screen.prj.xml.txt 2. remove .txt extension 3. import project into tasker IMPORTANT This project requires Tasker Accessibility service to be ON. Sometimes the system will turn OFF Accessibility for various apps. To keep it on always: Go to... Tasker > Menu > Preferences > Monitor > General. There you select which services you want to always be running and Tasker will try and take care of it for you. read more here: https://www.reddit.com/r/tasker/comm...ility_service/ Additional: You should not modify any of the timing parameters inside the file. They have been fine tuned. If it works ok as is, do not try to make it any faster because there will come a time when it will fail. I want reliability 100%, rather than gaining 0.5 second and watching it fail 50% of the time. In fact, the most critical timing parameter is automated and will take as much time as needed until 'recent apps' is intercative. My advice to you is not to mess with the wait parameters at all, but you can of course load 2 different apps instead of Poweramp and Maps. You can also prepare several separate tasks each loading different pairs of apps. You can also call each of these tasks with Google assistant routines! If you notice, this project also has a boot profile which loads the split screen at boot. There is also a separate task which I connected with a routine to be called by Google assistant. This task kills both apps and then performs the normal boot sequence. The reason is because if we do not kill the apps, then many times 2 other apps end up getting paired! Poweramp Project: Split_Screen project makes use of the Poweramp project so please load that also. The reason is in order to play music and shuffle the list. Enjoy! Simple tasker project - BT_WIFI.prj.xml
BT_WIFI.prj.xml
I have made a small project using tasker for our KSW head units. The purpose of this tasker project is to help at boot time to: 1. Keep Bluetooth switched ON (NOTE: this will be useful if you need ZLINK when using 'OEM Bluetooth') 2. Connect to a specific WiFi I am attaching the xml file which you can import into tasker and play around. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. download file BT_WIFI.prj.xml.txt 2. remove .txt extension 3. import project into tasker Additional Info: If you are using OEM BT calls, our HU will actively try to close BT for the first 5 minutes after a boot. This project will fight against that during boot time and will continue to do so every 1 minute. As I already said, "this will be useful if you need ZLINK when using 'OEM Bluetooth'". Additionally, I needed it to test my BT TPMS. Unfortunately it works with BT/LE and although this taks keeps BT alive, my TPMS app still does not work as well as on my mobile (ie. updates take very long). If you also enable the WIFI profile, it will force connection to a specific WIFI... just change the name of your WIFI connection in the task. Last edited by conandrum; 04-04-2024 at 12:08 PM.. |

conandrum if it's ok with you, I would like to add that to the theming thread, Tasker projects section. I'm sure a few people will find it useful. Also you can publish that on Discord in the #tasker-projects channel and I will pin it for people to easily find.

fighting with the update of my HU. 1.0.7_NEXAI - initial state. update 1.0.7 -> 1.5.6 -- failed attempt to update 1.0.7. --> 1.2.0 -- failed attempt to update 1.0.7. --> 1.1.4 -- failed (tried USB stick, SD card, adb recovery) each update ends with the message "Update package is older than the current build..." what else can I do to get an update on my HU? |

KSW tools are installed, but disabled(not activated). Here is the current system state. Today I'm going to factory reset and try to update one more time. |

Try factory reset and after install updated, KSW tools has this issue, that will be fixed with future releases, but now many can't update even after KSW was stopped. Factory reset of unit and than everything from beginning without KSW.
