About time for a set of tires for my F31. Living in the Denver front range I need a tire that can handle snow. Newish category is the AW all weather tire with 3-peak snow rating. Don’t care much for a dedicated snow tire like a Blizzak considering they wear extremely quickly in temps above 60f. Brings me to a 3star rated tire.

Anyone have experience with Bridgestone WeatherPeaks? Toyo Celsius? MileStar WeatherGuard 365?

Pirelli cinturato weatheractive

I put a set of these on my Ford Flex AWD Limited and they are great in the snow. Just bought a new to me 2016 F32-xdrive for the wife has Bridgestone Drivegaurds on it and it was pathetic in the snow this morning. probably going to get the Pirelli's this week. Sorry no experience with others you listed.

Dont know if they have the right sizes, but I ran Continental Extreme Contact on my Cayenne GTS. Great all weather tire. Specifically, I had the Extreme Contact DWS. They did very well in the infrequent snows we have here in central Indiana, but handled great in dry. Would highly recommend them. So much, so, that they will be going on my daughters car.

The DWS06 is still an all-season tire, not what I would consider an all-weather tire.

I would watch this to compare how "one of the best" all seasons, all weathers, and winter tires compare: (*I put that in quotes to avoid going down a debate of each specific tire in each category.)

You are correct. The DWS06 is def not an "All Weather" tire, but I can say that even in fairly deep snow, it did everything I asked. I had a weekend run to Chicago, and encountered heavy snow on the way back. It was unexpected, so plows had not gotten a jump on it. 6"-8" of snow on 294. I was never worried about control, but was about others running into me. Of course, the GTS was AWD, but the tires were very wide. Not ideal coasting over snow. YMMV

If you encounter multiple heavy snows a year, as in >4, and they stay around for a while, I would suggest a snow tire.

Just my $.02

I just bought Michelin Pilot Alpines as a winter tire. Haven't driven in snow yet but 15F temps I was very impressed with traction.

+1 agreed. I think heavy snow falls here in MD are becoming less and less common. I'm inclined to switch most of my "winter" tires to all weather or all seasons with 3PMSF ratings after my true "winter" tires wear out.

I also think tread compound and design matter far more than how marginally narrow/wide the tires are. Obviously having a narrower tire may help a bit more in terms of longitudinal traction.

I think that at those temperatures, the winter compound will certainly provide a bit more grip. Although on dry surfaces, it's still safe for a good all season tire.

I will say, I am surprised that you would go with a winter tire since you're in San Antonio.

Is it preferable to have all four tyres same width for winter?

For this car/chassis, it's preferable to have all four tires of the same size/width all the time.

I recently moved to Chicago. If I was still in San Antonio I would continue to run RE71rs year round. So far cold wet traction is also very good. Just have to test out snow soon enough.
