I have completely stock Msport suspension and alignment specs. IIRC there is a ton of room with the stock 19'' wheels and this tire size but ill take a look when i get a chance. I autocrossed on them and even under full compression and lock with a passenger there was no rub.

Here's some key pictures. I dont think -1 degree additional camber is going to cause any rub, but you can judge. This is driver side wheel at full left lock parked on level ground with stock Msport suspension and stock 19'' wheels.
EDIT: Not sure why the photos rotated but the top one is the back of the tire near the liner. You should rotate them all 90 degrees clockwise. |

Great information on various tire sizes compared to the OEM sizes.
On my 2018 340i M Sport with 403M (all stock), I am considering the following sizes to gain some comfort after being beat up from the 1st set of tires LOL F 235/40/19 R 265/35/19 Thoughts on the front potentially rubbing the spring perch or the rear being oversized for the 9" wheel? Tire in mind is the Michelin Pilot All Season 4 Thanks in advance

Tires recommendation
Hi everyone, I recently just bought my very first car. It's a 2013 f30
I need some help with tires recommendations as I know NOTHING on tires at all. What would be the best tires for a staggered set on 19s. I saw a set of tires + rims of 275 for the back and 235 for the front. IS that too big for an f30? Pros and cons..? |

If you know nothing about tires, spend an hour or two doing research on wheel specs (what offset means, how offset and width relate to fitment, etc) and on tires (what each of the numbers means, speed rating, load ratings, etc). |

So I have the M3 control arm and tension strut upgrades on my 2015 F30 335i with M-Adaptive Suspension and 403M rims. It is great for firming things up....but it is harsh with the narrow front tires. I run Michelin PSS 225/40-R19 up front and they are a joke (too narrow). Great that everyone is recommending 245/35-R19s up front. The M3 arms do move the wheels forward with little clearance....so if I upgrade fingers will be crossed.
The rears are a problem since there should be an upgrade path to something bigger than 255/35-R19s. So odd that you can't run 265-275/35-R19s. The real problem is that BMW short changed drivers with very narrow rims for an "M-Sport." Only 8" up front and 8.5" in the rear. I have an BMW E90 M3 and am running 255/35-R19 up front and 275/35-R19 in the rear. M cars have flared fenders, so you can run much larger tires (even 285-295/30-R19s). They also come with wider rims around 9-9.5-10 inches wide. So if your modded F30 is producing 400+ HP, you need to get aftermarket rims with 9-10 inch widths. At the prices Michelin is charging for tires ($300-350), you can get new rims for the same price. The diamond cut finish on BMW M-Sport wheels is garbage and the clear coat will begin to wear off and corrode. Cheers Last edited by nyc_dude; 06-29-2022 at 06:31 PM.. |

Sorry to revive an old thread (and btw what a thread!) but this seems like the perfect place to seek some help regarding tyre sizes for xdrive.
I have read all of the above and would like to go for the wider 245 on the front also, the problem is i dont want to go from 225/40/19 to 245/35/19 and lose sidewall height, ride can be harsh enough sometimes.. When checked on tyre size calculator the sizes recommended above (245/35/19 and 255/35/19) have a difference of 1.07% Ive also checked for a 245/40/19 and 255/40/19, the difference is 1.18% Apparently you cant go over 1% difference on xdrive but if 1.07% runs ok surely the 1.18% would be good aswell right? |

As noted in the 2nd post, the max recommended widths on 19x8 and 8.5 are 245 and 255 respectively. If you are looking at different wheels (widths and offets), i would check for one of the various threads on that. With a wider wheel you can go to a wider tire.

I have the M3 control arm mod and thrust arms on my F30 335i with 403M wheels (8.0 inch and 8.5 inch F/R).
Happy to report that larger tires fit without any rubbing issues. I think you can go even larger with 275/30R-19s in the rear, but the small 8.5 inch rear wheels might not be able to handle that big a tire. Aftermarket wider wheels cost as much as new PS 4S tires. Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (ignore the BMW Star hype) 245/35R-19 Front $300 265/35R-19 Rear $400 If you track your car, a square 255/35R-19 setup might work. Easy to check, since you can install your rear wheels in the front for a clearance test...although the rims are slightly larger. I would NOT recommend the M3 thruster arm upgrade, since you need custom spacers. Tuner has a monoball upgraded M3 thruster arm with the spacers all taken care of. How does the 335i drive? Much better and well planted. The narrow 225/40R-19 tires made the front end twitchy. KW or Bilstein coilovers all around are the best solution, since the rear steel stamped suspension and mattress springs are garbage. The M-Adaptive suspension is also junk. I am spoiled by my glorious E90 M3 S65 V8... It is a no brainer to get wider tires on a BMW 335i/340i M-Sport the next time you wear out your tires. Cheers |

I'm seeing that my best option is to go from 225/40/19 front and 255/35/19 rear to 235/45/19 front and 265/40/19 rear (if the 8.5 will take it) as it gives only a 0.07% circumference change so no stress on my transfer case (I hope!). Failing that I may switch to 225/45/19 front and 255/40/19 rear for protection and reduced wheel gap but not sure yet. The roads are poor where I live so I enjoy performance but also want comfort and protection from the many pot holes so any advice or pics of similar setups would be much appreciated - thanks Last edited by adamf2001; 02-10-2024 at 04:29 PM.. |
