I'll add to this... changing from Transmission to qBitTorrent fixed the issue for me. Strange that Transmission had an issue with the magnet/torrent.

It is frustrating that it is the default program installed with Mint, and doesn't work... Last time I downloaded a torrent was several PCs ago so I can't even tell you what I used. I must have used the Mega download for last year's map updates.

Unfortunately Rutorrent doesnt like the new torrent/magnet either. I can't seem to be able to seed anymore.

DHT doesn't find anything when I use the torrent file, and the magnet link fails to download the metadata for the torrent files. Bummer!

Right2Repair what are you using to make the fileS?

I was able to successfully download but I can't seem to get the nav to pop up the update message when the USB is inserted. I have tried several different USB drives and no luck yet. This update is slightly bigger than 32 GB so I had to switch to 64GB which uses exFAT rather than FAT32. Which brand thumb drives have been working?

Thanks so much OP Right2Repair! I’m primarily a Mac user but I have an old Thinkpad T420 for e90 BMW Standard Tools, etc.

I torrented and seeded the Map OP Magnet link on the Mac which is faster. I also downloaded the 1b hex code tool on the Mac as well.

After failing to pull the hex code with several Fat 32 thumb drives with my Mac, I then used an empty Fat32 formatted thumb and placed the hex code tool via the Windows Thinkpad. It worked the first time! The thumb drive blinked rapidly and then just steady letting me know it was done pulling the hex.

I then used the Thinkpad to run the much appreciated FSC generator and pulled a “Lifetime” code and filled in the associated drop downs.

Inserting the other large 64gb containing the OPs kind Map update, it then took a bit of time before the Nav system finally prompted me for the installation. Maybe a minute. I entered my lifetime code and the update only took about an hour.

Rebooting nav takes a few minutes too so I just let it cook. Eventually, the nav version showed the new Map!

So I downloaded every needed file with the Mac, but did the processing of the FSC stuff with the Windows clunktop. I also understand that 64 gb thumb drives can’t be formatted Fat32 on Windows without a certain app. I’ve read that the thumbs must be Fat32 to work. My Memorex 64gb from Target was preformatted Fat32. Thanks all!

Use the app in the original post to convert from exFAT to FAT32, should work then.

How are you folks generating your FSCs? I finally pulled everything together to load this and NA Premium USB 2022 is not an option. I'm going to try generating a lifetime FSC for 2021 and see if that works...

Update: the NA Premium USB 2021 lifetime code appears to be working. I will let you all know in an hour or so if it's 100%.

All good. At first I was worried because when I restarted the car and went to check nav version I got a blank screen, but after a few minutes it reports the correct map version.

It needs to be FAT32 not exFAT.

There are various ways of formatting larger drives as FAT32. Youtube has various videos on this.

I downloaded and extracted the file. Thank you. I also have a formatted 128Gb USB stick.
The last time I updated my nav systems (I have 2 cars with CIC) it was in 2018 or 2019, so I'm bit rusty, hence my question.
I just copy/paste the extracted files on my USB stick now, and insert in the car(s) to update the maps? (I used the lifetime FSB code the last time, so I don't think I need to use the code again?)
Is there anything I should be wary before I could potentially screw up something?

I just used utorrent yesterday to download from the link/magnet provided. No issues. Installed updated map version on both my cars.

I have a 256MB flash drive. I formatted it to FAT32, but I picked 32K cluster at first. When I went down to try it on the car, nothing popped up like it used to in previous years. USB in glow compartment is working fine, because I uploaded some music prior to it. My memory stick is fine too. I believe it is something to do with how I formatted it. This time I picked 64K cluster to format again since it is recommended for 256MB flash drives. I will try again today or tomorrow when I get a chance. If it does not work I will download it again; perhaps there is a corrupt file or something. Any suggestions?
