How to verify used calipers

I bought four new calipers (370/345mm) is there anything I should do or check to verify these before I paint and mount them to my car?

It's a bit of a pain to get the pistons out, but you could replace all the seals and dust boots just to make sure they're fresh. Super cheap to do. I'd recommend maybe putting in new bleeders too. Also cheap.

They're probably fine, but it's good for some peace of mind.

Check that the dust boots on each piston are in good condition.

If any part of the piston(s) look even a little bit rusty, I'd take the time rebuilding them.

Take your time with breaking the bleeder screws free. They sometimes seize and are a pain.

If painting, I would mask off and not paint the ledges the pads ride along. The flat machined section. Painting that may cause tolerance issues when installing the pads.

Beware using cheap dust boots. They can rip. The Brembo originals, while more expensive, seem more durable.

okay. The painting folks will be taking the caliper apart. I will supply them with:
* brembo original dust boots
* new bleeder screws
* new seals

Is there anything else? Does anyone have a part number for these? Are there any preferred stores from which I should source?

These are the calipers I have: 34116799469 and 34116799470

thanks for the help

Does anyone have an opinion on which color I should paint the calipers?

If you want OEM; go with one of the OEM colours or Blue as the Brembo's come in here in UK/Europe

Rears:

Fronts:

Official colour is Estoril Blue Metallic IIRC

I was able to source parts for these calipers from Pat McCleish @ Automotive Brake Solutions:

Thanks - I'm avoiding Blue as it clashes too much with the car body paint.

The Red and Orange are also OEM colors as they came with the "BMW M Performance Brake". I would like to stick to OEM colors if possible.

Went with red for my upgrade. Replaced m logo with Brembo B, looks cleaner imo.
